Engaging with older Australians who speak languages other than English In the 2011 census, 96,000 Victorians over the age of 55 stated they speak English not well or not at all. The aim of the Ageing in Australia Expo is to present information about aged care and the support services available in the languages they speak. Exhibitors are encouraged to target their approach to older Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This includes providing translated information and maximising the use of language services provided. Exhibitors with bilingual skills will be invited to aide effective communication on the day. Interpreting services will be provided by Polaron in a number of languages to assist with communication between exhibitors and the public.
