KEY FACTS Alice and Jerome Tourbier, founders of Les Sources de Caudalie near Bordeaux, have lovingly created Les Etangs de Corot, a delightful hamlet of four interconnected houses that form a cozy, welcoming hotel nestled among lush greenery. For Parisians, Les Etangs de Corot offers the immobile journey, the chance to leave behind everyday life and urban cares just a short drive from Paris. For foreign guests, it is the perfect change of scenery after the hustle and bustle of the city. More than a concept, Les Etangs de Corot responds to a growing trend: that of rediscovering the world next door. For each of the hotel s 43 rooms, Alice and Jerome Tourbier opted for a unique, personalised atmosphere. Floral and striped wallpaper from Farrow & Ball are combined with country pieces. Antique furniture invites you to travel back in time. In keeping with the Impressionist painter Corot s palette, the colour scheme favours brown, taupe and grey in the peaceful, softly lit common areas, with more lively colours like orange, gold and blue in the rooms. Michelin-starred chef Remi Chambard helms the kitchen at Le Corot, a 21st century hunting house. The emphasis is on seasonal products, Remi loves to tell the history and provenance of the product to his guests. The setting reminds us of its history too; reproductions of Corot s paintings are mixed with stag head trophies that recall the hunting culture of the adjacent forest. This refined setting is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or for a business lunch. The 7,500 sqft Caudalie Spa was created especially for those who love treatments derived from the vine and from grapes, located in an exceptional environment. At its center is a large indoor outdoor hot tub, where nature lovers can lounge while admiring the beautiful gardens. Enjoy signature therapies such as a Crushed Cabernet Scrub, a Honey and Wine Wrap, or a Winemaker Massage. DID YOU KNOW? The village of Ville D Avray was founded in the Middle Ages. During the 19th century, Ville D Avray became a resort town, attracting artists, painters, writers and musicians who were drawn to the charms of the place and found inspiration here. In June 2010, Les Etangs de Corot unveiled its junior suite entirely redecorated by the fashion brand Paul&Joe and its designer Sophie Albou. The creations of the celebrated painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot were inspired by the ponds along the hotel s gardens. The hotel was created in homage to his talent. Jean-Baptiste Corot painted his first landscapes of the village at the age of 26. 3
