January 23, 2011 Dear Rotary Exchange Student: RE: Rotary Club of Flin Flon Camp Whitney Student Exchange Week July 3 July 7, 2011 The Rotary Club of Flin Flon is very pleased to invite you to participate in a camping experience at Camp Whitney, near Flin Flon. The camp is intended to give the inbound and outbound exchange students of the District an opportunity to relax with each other and enjoy some Canadian outdoor activities together for four days in the beautiful, rugged bush and lake landscape in this part of Canada. CampWhitney is a rustic, but comfortable, camping facility on the shores of Lake Athapapuskow (a Cree name meaning where the rocks change ). There are no modern conveniences like indoor plumbing and heat, although people are pampered with some hot showers and electric lighting (supplied by a solar power unit with a back up diesel generator). Ten cabins are available for accommodations and a large log building provides a comfortable dining hall. The lake is large, offering ample opportunity for swimming, water sports, sunbathing and fishing. A visit to Camp Whitney will give you a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy the various activities being organized on your behalf by the Rotary Club of Flin Flon with your fellow exchange students. We are certain that your visit to Camp Whitney will become one of the most memorable experiences of your Canadian Rotary Exchange.
