All registered participants requiring a visa to CHILE, or a transit visa, are strongly advised to contact the appropriate consular authorities as soon as possible. To find out if you need a visa, please visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile (http://chileabroad.gov.cl/) and select the name of your country. For Countries with NO Chilean representation only, visa on arrival can be arranged. In this case, please send your details (full name, address, telephone, e-mail, city of departure, date of arrival and entry port in Chile) and a copy of your national passport to: miouf-sperling@unfccc.int. Tel: (+49 228) 815-1128 DAILY SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE (DSA) Funded participants are eligible for DSA in accordance with UNFCCC rules. The DSA for Santiago, Chile is currently US$ 269 per day (effective 1 June 2015) and may evolve by the time of the workshop. It is calculated from the official arrival day for the workshop depending on the flight schedule, through the conclusion of the workshop with the expected departure the next day plus one day DSA deemed to cover miscellaneous travel expenses including visa and airport taxes*. The DSA described above represents the total entitlement to be provided at the meeting. DSA will be available for collection at the meeting venue on the first workshop day during the lunch break. Please make sure to present your passport, and original boarding pass(es) at registration before claiming DSA. Note on Travel Any changes made to the date of departure and/or arrival may incur a fee. Changes for private reasons are to be paid by the traveller. The UNFCCC secretariat will not be responsible for costs associated with any changes you may wish to make to your ticket, for example upgrading, re-routing or stop-overs.

Page 3 TRANSPORTATION For your safety, it is recommended to use the official transport offered by the Santiago airport. Minibuses from the airport to the different areas of the city of Santiago are offered by Transvip and Delphi Transfer (Transfer Delfos). They carry a maximum of 7 people for a charge that varies from 7 to 12 USD (4500-7500 Pesos) per person. Taxis charge using a metered system and, in general, no tip is given to their drivers. A normal taxi rate from the airport to ECLAC is about USD 40 (25.000 Pesos). Additionally, five metro lines are available for transportation to the capital. ACCOMMODATION Indicative list of accommodations and Hotel Accommodation Request (see annexes) HEALTH REQUIREMENTS With respect to health requirements and precautions to be taken by participants travelling to Chile to attend the meetings in question, the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Kyoto Protocol (the secretariat) informs all participants that they should consult and seek medical advice from their physicians/doctors and take medical precautions, as advised. For general information purposes, the participants can check on the current health requirements, for Chile, posted by the World Health Organization on its website, which can be accessed from this link http://www.who.int/ith/en/index.html. The secretariat hopes that the information provided by WHO will familiarize the participants with the general health requirements for Chile. At all times, participants are individually and personally responsible for making their own assessment relating to health requirements. GENERAL INFORMATION ON DURING YOUR STAY CHILE Santiago, a city of about six million people, is the capital of the Republic of Chile. It has a Mediterranean climate and well-defined seasons, from rainy winters with temperatures as low as 0º C (May to September) to dry summers, when daytime temperatures hover around 30º C (November to March). The relative humidity is low. Springtime starts on September 21st, with 5 temperatures from 20-25ºC. June, July and August are cold and rainy months and it is advisable to bring warm clothes and umbrella. The capital is one and a half hour from seaside resorts, such as Viña del Mar. Cultural activity is at its peak from March to December and includes concerts, opera, theatre and historical and art museums. There are five local television channels. A wide variety of cable channels, such as CNN, HBO and MSTV, are also available.

Page 4 It is suggested that visitors drink bottled mineral water, since tap water, although drinkable, sometimes affects those who are not accustomed to it. Santiago is quite a safe place. However, like in similar big cities, it is necessary to use common sense, be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Be alert for pick-pocketing, purse and camera snatching, and thefts from backpacks and rental cars. Petty crime is common in major tourist destinations, in hotel lobbies and restaurants, internet cafes, at bus and subway stations, and in cruise-ship ports. Exercise caution when touring Cerro Santa Lucia, Cerro San Cristobal and Mercado Central, as pick-pocketing and muggings occur frequently in these areas. It is advisable not to go downtown at night alone, to avoid badly illuminated or isolated streets and to be careful with expensive jewellery and handbags. Currency: The currency used in Chile is the Peso ($). The current exchange rate is 618 Pesos to the U.S. dollar (as of 1 June 2015). This rate is however subject to change. Bank: A branch of Banco de Chile is located on the first basement level. It is open to the public from 9 am to 2 pm. The local currency is the peso ($), with bills of $500, $1.000, $2.000, $5.000, $10.000 and $20.000; and coins of $1, $5, $10, $50, $100 and $500. Foreign currency may be changed from 10 a.m. to 12.30 pm ATMs: Automatic tellers (Redbanc system) are usually located at banks, shopping areas and service stations, (gas stations) as well. Tellers accept both local bank cards and Cirrus, Plus, and Maestro cards 24 hours a day. Exchange rates used are very convenient Credit cards: Credit cards are accepted, the most common being Visa, Master Card, AMEX and Diners. Cash: US Dollars are sometimes accepted in touristic places and could be cashed at the banks, hotels, restaurants and markets. Tipping: Restaurants and bars add 10% to the bill. However, waiting staff will expect a 10% cash tip in addition. Electricity: The electric power in Chile is 220 volts, 50 cycles AC. Large shopping malls are open daily 1000-2100 FACILITIES AND SERVICES AT ECLAC Canteen The canteen "Café Colonia" is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, offering breakfast from 8:00 to 11:30 am and lunch from 12:30 to 03:30 pm. A coffee shop is also located within the building. Medical Service The ECLAC Medical Service is available to participants requiring medical assistance. It is located on the main floor (Z-210), telephone extension 2333, and is open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Page 5 Mail There is a post office next to Banco de Chile which opens from 10.30 am to 1 pm. Shops The "Anayhue Shop" at ECLAC offers gifts, crafts, newspapers, magazines and other items, it also provides photocopy service and fax at a cost of $ 40 per page. It is located to the left of the main entrance to the building and opens from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The north entrance to the ECLAC building is located at Alonso de Cordova Street. This is a very nice and exclusive area of shops and restaurants. Restaurants ECLAC is located in a zone with many nice restaurants at a walking distance. It is known for its furniture, textiles and paints, among others. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes It is one of the main centers for the dissemination of visual arts. It is located in the area of Parque Forestal (Forest Park), in the municipality of Santiago. Museo de Arte Precolombino This museum is a pioneer in Latin America in custody, dissemination and study of the artistic legacy of the pre-columbian peoples of America. It has an extensive collection of art from ancient cultures, such as the Incas and the Diaguitas, among others. It is located in the heart of Santiago.

Page 6 Teatro Municipal de Santiago Declared National Monument, known for its architectural aesthetics. It was built in 1857 and is one of the most important cultural centers in Chile, where opera, ballet and musical concerts are performed. Palacio de La Moneda The Government Palace is located in the municipality of Santiago and is known for its architecture. It is the only building in pure Italian neoclassical style in America. Furthermore, the Palacio La Moneda Cultural Center can be found there, which provides access to national and international visual and audio-visual heritage. Plaza de Armas It is located in the heart of Santiago and it was the civic center of the city from the colony. There is the Cathedral, declared a National Monument, which has an interesting museum, whose main attraction is the library where manuscripts of very important people in the history of Chile are preserved. Other important buildings located in the Plaza de Armas are the Municipality of Santiago and the Central Post Office, both constructions of old date.
