Presidents Corner Boyz and Girlz Happy October - dang we are inchin up to the end of the year. So a little story this month I'll call "Shimmy and Shake" Getting the red truck ready for the Boyz Cruise and having issues with a shaky front end. A problem that has been getting worse over the past few years. Once I get to 65 or 70 it is like riding a bucking bronco. So what does one do - well I ordered new tubular A Arms from Summit - they look cool - and I've always wanted to put them on the truck - and they are supposed to help a lowered vehicle track better. BUT - I had a voice of reason (Joe Gracie) say "that's not going to solve the problem and why are you doing a major suspension change 10 days before the trip" - so my A Arms sit in their box for now. Tom M suggested going to B&G Tire and talking to Brian I did - and they did a lot of work balancing - rotating tire on wheel - load balance etc. - still shimmy and shake - one wheel took over 4 oz. of weights - and then determined to be a bad tire - so installed two new front tires - much better but still some shimmy and shake. So now we have 12 days til the Boyz Cruise and the suspension guy at B&G is on vacation til Monday - get to B&G Monday morning (6 days til the trip) - and they spend all day "tuning" suspension. At one point it was thought to be a bent rim - called Mark Miller to see if he had any - yes, but on a truck (so maybe a back up) - maybe the driveshaft balance - called Vern - not likely we had that done when 700R was installed and no weights were missing Now I'm looking at alternatives - take my Charger - Cheryl's convertible VW or???? But with a lot of work and adjustment by B&G my red truck now rides better than it has in years - a huge thank you to Brian and his team (and btw Brian will sell tires to Boyz members at wholesale - a little plug) Point of this story is that we have a great family of help and knowledge with our club - so if you need help just reach out and you'll get connected with a solution. Can't wait to get on this trip - nothing warms the heart like seeing a long string of our hot rods cruising down the road and spending special time with very special friends. Keep on Cruizin Jeff Name that car: A design problem gave this car s maker nightmares; the car also sheltered the main characters of Cujo from their pet dog.
