The 12th EAAA Annual Meeting On October 10, NKIAC hosted the 12th Annual Meeting of the East Asia Airports Alliance (EAAA). This year's theme was New Strategies for Environmentally Sustainable Airports and high-ranking executives from operators in Japan, China and South Korea gathered at KIX to present and discuss efforts to improve environmental performance. To close the meeting, the participants ratified the Green Airport Relay Declaration, which obligates operators to organize programs to heighten awareness of environmental issues every month on a rotating basis. (Group Photo) (Green Airport Relay Declaration) NKIAC President and CEO Keiichi Ando offered the following remarks as the host of this year's event. It is a great honor for Kansai International Airport to host the 2013 EAAA Annual Meeting and welcome top executives from leading airports in East Asia. Under this year's theme, New Strategies for Environmentally Sustainable Airports, we learned how each airport operator is implementing environmental countermeasures based on their own unique ideas, which was extremely memorable and edifying for our environmentally-advanced Kansai International and Osaka International Airports. We also signed a Green Airport Relay Declaration, which aims to reinforce the Green Airport Relay Declaration adopted in 2009 and raise awareness of environmental issues to a greater degree. Beginning January 2014, the twelve operators will organize programs to promote awareness of environmental issues every month on a rotating basis. Each operator will formulate specific plans for their programs in the near future and we look forward to witnessing the fruits of their efforts.
The EAAA Founded in December 2001, the East Asia Airports Alliance (EAAA) is an institution through which large-scale airport operators in China, South Korea and Japan work together to find solutions to common management issues with the overall goal of improving facilities and services. Currently, 13 operators join the EAAA and hold meetings (coordinator meetings and annual meetings where high-ranking executives attend) twice a year. Hosting of meetings is rotated around all the operators and in FY 2013 they are being held by us. * Member airport operators: A total of 13 operators Japan (5 operators) Narita International Airport Corporation Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd.
