Scouts and parents will participate in a four hour service project and other activities (hikes, museum visits, campfire program without fire, etc.), as well as spend the night on Angel Island State Park in the San Francisco Bay. Participants should consider one hour drive (car sickness), 15 minute ferry ride (sea sickness) and hiking over a mile. o Lunch Bring a sack lunch in your day pack o Dinner Bring a dehydrated meal. You can pick up a Mountain House Brand or comparable readymade meal online or through REI. Use envelope/deposit in the box. Enforced daily and in evenings! You must pay daily upon entering, or your vehicle will be ticketed. Use the ticket parking machine and leave ticket in vehicle dash OR take the envelope from the box, fill out, enclose fee, and drop into the slot of receipt box. Livermore is 788 feet tall and has views that span all of the island and bay areas from its top. The name of the peak comes from Caroline Livermore, a conservationist whose efforts in protecting the island led to Angel Island becoming a state park enjoyed by tens of thousands of visitors every year. Great panoramic views of the bay. Possible geocaching on trial. YPT enforced with at least two adults and balance ratio of scouts to adults Moderate Level Hike Starting at sea level then climbing to the peak (788 feet). Miles: ~4.5 5.0 miles from service campsite & approximately 800 feet elevation Trail: Northridge Trail Bring ten essentials, water and headlamp/flashlight Partial Hike to the Peak (About 1 2 hour) Hike with the Hike to the Peak Group, but halfway up, enjoy the view of the Bay and then turn around and head back YPT enforced with at least two adults and balance ratio of scouts to adults Short Hike to Museum @ Fort McDowell & Historic Buildings (About 1 hour) If you walk to Ft McDowell, down the hill from your campsite, volunteers will have opened the museum which is free to visit. Neat historic buildings there as well. YPT enforced with at least two adults and balance ratio of scouts to adults Short Hike to US Immigration Station Museum (About 1 hour) The Immigration Station Museum is open for visitation for $5/adults and $3/youth, but no tours.
