Schedule of Events: SATURDAY, JULY 30 th 11:30am BIG TRUCK PARADE A variety of vehicles on parade escorted by the RCMP. It will start at Emberley s Transport and continue through town, ending at the Bait Depot, a BBQ lunch at 12:00 pm. BBQ hamburgers ($3 each), hot dogs ($2 each) and beverages just $1. Donations to the food bank accepted by the Town Council truck during the parade. TORONTO ADVENTURES (DINNER THEATRE) When the East Coast meets Toronto, neither will ever be the same. This wicked take on life away is meant for anyone from anywhere who s ever made a move to anyplace. Comedy. Ticket Price: $35.00 + HST SUNDAY, JULY 31 ST 2:00 pm MARINER S MEMORIAL ANNUAL SERVICE Will be held at the George C. Harris on Main Street at the Provincial Mariner s Memorial Garden. This service is to remember mariners who lost their lives to the sea, and to pay respect to the families who were left behind. There will also be a flower laying ceremony for those who wish to bring a single flower to lay in their loved one s memory. Message From The Mayor Summer is finally here, and so too is the Summer Festival. It s a time when we come out and demonstrate our community spirit. Activities have been scheduled throughout the week for all residents, former residents returning home on vacation and visitors of all ages. It s an opportunity to get out and meet your neighbours, rekindle old friendships and greet visitors. A special welcome to all those visiting Grand Bank and those returning home who have made Grand Bank a part of their vacation plans. We truly hope you enjoy your stay. The Grand Bank Summer Festival would not be the success that it is if it wasn t for the hard work and dedication of the Special Events Committee and their Staff. Thank you for all you have done. Also, I want to thank the many Sponsors who continually support the festival each year. Your support is greatly appreciated. One of the highlights of the festival is the fireworks display. Please join us at the wharf for this spectacular event. I also encourage you to visit the Grand Bank Regional Theatre and view the many performances they have to offer. This week long celebration has something for everyone; from the first day with the Big Truck Parade and Opening Ceremonies to the downtown Outdoor dance on Grand Bank Day. This year we are proud to present The Masterless Men & Signal Hill! I would like to thank the Special Events Committee and all the volunteers for their hard work and dedication. THINGS TO SEE AND DO! - Come see the largest mural in Atlantic Canada on the Southern Newfoundland Seaman s Museum, and visit their Across the Polar Sea exhibit at their temporary location at the Bait Depot. - Visit the Mariner s Memorial, a tribute to those lost at sea at the George C. Harris House, A Peoples Museum - Water Street - Take a heritage walking tour of the downtown area. Brochures available at The Grand Bank Municipal Centre (Main St.) And the Harris House (Water St.) - Get an excellent view of Fortune Bay. - Hike along our nature trail off the Grand Bank by pass. Upon reaching Bennett s lookout you will see a picturesque view of Grand Bank. - Visit the waterfront where many locals gather. Take notice to the damage to the B in the Grand Bank lighthouse. It was struck by the schooner, Frank R. Forsey in 1922. - Catch the local performances being performed throughout the summer. Whether you re in the mood for traditional Heritage, Humour, Comedy or Culture, the Grand Bank Theatre Festival has something for you. All productions are staged at the Grand Bank Theatre (Water Street). Schedules available at various locations or contact 832-ACT2 (2282). - The Town of Grand Bank Municipal Centre is located on 56 Main Street. This facility is open to all and it holds various groups and businesses.
