Toyota started as a textile firm and evolved over decades into an international automobile producer. The museum was established in June, 1994 and is housed in an old red-brick textile factory. Its display starts with textile looms and then gradually goes over into the history of cars. Also featured are high-tech robots. Access by public transport is Sako Station on the Meitetsu line or Kamejima Station by the Higashiyama Line. Operation hours: Tuesday - Sunday: 9:30 am - 5 pm Address: Noritake Shinmachi 4-chome, 1-35, Nagoya, 451-0051, Japan Image Courtesy of Wikimedia and Mytho88. Sight description based on Wikipedia. Afterwards, you can choose some beautiful tableware at the gift shop to add a unique Japanese twist to your home décor. It is one of the world's largest train stations by floor area (410,000 m²), and houses the headquarters of the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). Much of this space is located in the JR Central Towers atop the station, as well as in underground concourses. The current station complex was completed on December 20, 1999. The station and the area around it is officially called Meieki in the Japanese addressing system. The station is adjacent to Meitetsu Nagoya Station, the terminal of the Nagoya Railroad, and Kintetsu Nagoya Station, the terminal of the Kintetsu Nagoya Line. The twin-towered station rises over 50 stories. There is the 59-story tall Hotel Tower and the 55-story tall office tower (with a heli-pad on top). It opened in early 2007 and it is the fifth tallest building in Japan behind Yokohama Landmark Tower, Rinku Gate Tower Building, Osaka World Trade Center Building and Midtown Tower. Midland Square houses offices of many companies including Toyota Motor Corporation, Towa Real Estate and Mainichi Shimbun. At 247m (810 feet), it is slightly taller than the nearby JR Central Towers. Midland Square features a shopping center with 60 name-brand stores, two automobile showrooms and a cinema. It also holds the record for the highest open-air observation deck in Japan. Also of note are the unusual double-floored elevators, which take only 40 seconds to rise to the top. Address: Midland Square, Nagoya, Japan Image Courtesy of Wikimedia and K-star. Sight description based on Wikipedia. F) Nagoya International Center The Nagoya International Center is a non-profit organization based in Nakamura-ku. The center was established in 1984 and is known locally as the "NIC." The center's facilities are located on the third to fifth floors of the Nagoya International Center Building, a 7-minute walk or a 2-minute subway ride from Nagoya Station. The facilities that are open to the public free-of-charge include an information corner and a library with an extensive collection of foreign books--including over 10,000 English language books. There is a limited internet service in the 3F Information Counter, as well as a billboard where ads may be posted. Here, there are ads from people seeking a roommate/flatmate to live with, and people simply seeking to dispose of their accumulated possessions (a.k.a. sayonara sale) before they leave the country. Prior to January 2009, the board was also used to post individual ads by people seeking partners for language exchange as well as foreign exchange students seeking part-time employment, but these services are no longer offered. It is also possible to rent other facilities in the building itself. The center organizes activities that promote multi-cultural exchange between the local Copyright by GPSmyCity.com - Page 6 -

It also provides information and hosts free consultations (health, tax, legal, personal counseling, etc.) services for foreign residents in 8 languages (English, Filipino, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, French, Japanese).
