The JOHNSTON family immigrated after 1859 and before 1862 (found as JOHNSON in the 1870 Census of Eggleston, Muskegon Co., MI). A supposed son GEORGE GARVEY b. 1858 is not found with the family in this Census, nor can he be found anywhere in the 1880 US Census, nor in any Canadian Census that I have seen. In 1880 he would be age abt 22, and should have his own household, but apparently doesn't. So I have chosen to omit him from this GARVEYfamily. When I see some evidence that he actually existed, I will restore him. The GEORGE GARVEY found in Egleston, Muskegon Co., MI in the 1880 Census was age 40 (b 1840). He was the brother of the above CHARLES GARVEY. He was actually born in 1838. I believe someone may have mistakenly placed him as a son of CHARLES GARVEY. Perhaps from an error of reading "1838" as "1858"?
