JAIST Shuttle (Komatsu Airport / Komatsu Station) User s Guide March 31 2013 JAIST Shuttle Operation Guidelines We are operating Pickup Bus (JAIST Shuttle) between JAIST Komatsu Airport (hereinafter Komatsu Airport Line ) and JAIST JR Komatsu Station (hereinafter Komatsu Station Line ). It runs on schedule each line. We review our shuttle service every 3 months to check the operation conditions such as utilization of the Shuttle. If we decide to make a major change in our operating policy such as termination of the shuttle service (except for the time changes caused by changes of flight timetable or JR timetable), we will inform you 2 months ahead of that. (1)Operating Body JAIST is the main body of JAIST Shuttle operation. We provide our service to the members of JAIST as private transportation based on the Road Transportation Act. (2)Operating Contents Komatsu Airport Line connects to the flights to and from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport. Komatsu Station Line connects to some Shirasagi and Thunderbird trains at Komatsu Station. The routes are as follows: <Komatsu Airport Line> JAIST (in front of Division Building) Komatsu Airport (Bus stop for tour buses) JAIST (in front of Division Building) <Komatsu Station Line> JAIST (in front of Division Building) Komatsu Station East Exit (Bus stop for small-sized buses at the Station Square) JAIST (in front of Division Building) *Please see the attached sketch map for the getting on/off locations. We operate the Shuttle everyday including weekends and holidays. However, on December 31 st and January 1 st, there is no bus service. The Shuttle runs on schedule even if there are no prior reservations. (3)Applicable Users The operation of the Shuttle is conducted within the sphere of JAIST private transportation system which covers a limited area. Those who can take advantage of the Shuttle are limited to the members of JAIST (students, faculty and so on) and whomever the president of JAIST approves on each occasion. (The president shall consult with HOKURIKU-SHINETSU District Transport Bureau,

ISHIKAWA Transport Branch Office for the approval.) Those who are non-members of JAIST but have business or meetings at JAIST can also use the Shuttle. They can request a reservation of the bus through the faculty or the office they are visiting. (4) How to Use We operate an on-demand system which users make a prior reservation to the scheduled bus ride. However, even those users who do not have a reservation can take a bus in order of arrival, when the seats are available. Please come to the getting-on location at least 5 minutes before the departure time. If seats are full, they will need to wait for a next bus. <How to make a reservation> Please go to the link below and apply for the service. It is also accessible from our internal homepage; JAIST Shuttle Demand System. PC : https://www.jaist.ac.jp/jaist_sds/reserve/ Mobile Phone : https://www.jaist.ac.jp/jaist_sds/reserve_m/ *Since we have adopted SSL protocol in the system for a security reason, some phone models might not support the server. Please check with the link below. http://jp.globalsign.com/support/index.php?action=artikel&cat=9&id=54&artlang=ja Booking, changing, and cancelling reservations are acceptable 2 hours prior to the departure time. Please note that booking, changing, and cancelling reservations are not acceptable within 2 hours. We close the reservation list at the time when seats become full. The maximum number of seats available is 14. If visitors use the Shuttle, the faculty they are visiting has to make a reservation for them. (5)User s Fee The Shuttle is free of charge. The use of the Shuttle is a prerequisite for JAIST member on his/her official trips. Consequently, the transportation expense from JAIST to Komatsu Airport/Komatsu Station for official trips is not provided. (6)Operation Vehicle We offer our transportation services with 3 vehicles carrying capacity of 15 people each. (2 for Komatsu Airport Line, 1 for Komatsu Station Line.) (7)Management System As for the operational administration and the management of the Shuttle drivers, the Shuttle Service Section at General Affairs Department takes a responsibility during regular office hours of a full-time employee. During non-office hours (including such days as holidays), no one accommodates requests through phone or e-mail.

Notes (Important) <Komatsu Airport Line> With the exception of delayed flights, the Shuttle will leave on time, regardless of whether people with reservations have arrived or not. The Shuttle will wait for a maximum of 20 minutes after its scheduled departure time if an arriving flight from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport is delayed. (No other delayed flights apply in this case.) Even those users who do not have a reservation can take a bus in order of arrival, when the seats are available. Please come to the getting-on location at least 5 minutes before the departure time. If seats are full, they will need to wait for a next bus. For those who missed the bus because of the delay of a flight, they can take a next bus if they come to the getting-on location before the bus leaves. As for the last bus of a day, only if there is a reservation, the bus will wait for a maximum of 1 hour after its scheduled departure time in case an arriving flight from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport is delayed. After 1 hour, the bus will depart. For the flight information, you may want to contact ANA (tel:0570-029-222) or JAL(tel:0570-025-071). For more detailed information concerning the delayed flights from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport, please see the attached sheet 1. <Komatsu Station Line> The Shuttle will leave on time, regardless of whether people with reservations have arrived or not. Even those users who do not have a reservation can take a bus in order of arrival, when the seats are available. If seats are full, they will need to wait for a next bus. For those who missed the bus because of the delay of a train, they can take a next bus if they come to the getting-on location before the bus leaves. To the faculty and students who are on an official trip [In the case you missed the last Shuttle] Due to a reason which is not the result of your fault, for example a flight or train delay, if you missed the last scheduled bus on which you had reserved a seat on your official trip, faculty members and students can request the change of official trip orders. In this case, you have to apply for the change with a written statement of reasons, accompanied by a document which can prove the event (e.g. a proof of delay issued by a railroad company). For instance, you had to take a taxi at JR Komatsu Station to be back at JAIST campus when you missed the reserved last bus due to the delay of train arrival. This case is applicable. You pay for the taxi fare temporarily; you will request a payment of the bill later by submitting a written statement of reasons accompanied by a receipt for the taxi fare. In addition, a proof of train delay should be turned in if you have one. (You can ask a station employee at the ticket gate.)

The JAIST Shuttle waiting time for a flight delay from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport 1.The JAIST Shuttle will wait for a maximum of 20 minutes after its scheduled departure time if an arriving flight from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport is delayed. As for the last flight from Tokyo(Haneda), the Shuttle will wait for a maximum of 1 hour for the delay. However, this shall not apply to a delay of an arriving flight other than from Tokyo(Haneda) Airport. 2. The display-board at the arrival lobby of Komatsu Airport tells you how many minutes the flight delayed. 3.
