I would like to start by thanking the Committee from Last year (2015/2016) for their dedication and assistance in managing the affairs of the Holden Car Club and with the exception of the Merchandising Officer, the Committee remains much the same for 2016/17. I must thank Tanya Morris for stepping into Vickie Salmon s position whilst Jim is recuperating and the whole committee for continuing the affairs of the club whilst Vene and I were in Queensland. I wish Jim Salmon a speedy recovery on behalf of the members and committee and look forward to catching them at an event soon. I was elected to the position of President for 2016/17 in my absence and I thank one and all for your confidence in me. I have said before that I feel privileged to be working with a group of people who are dedicated to the ideals of the Holden Car Club and work very hard to make a success of each and every event held. Membership Renewals Thanks to all those members that have promptly forwarded monies for renewal of club membership. If your fees are still outstanding then please attend to this very important matter as soon as possible as your membership will closed off in the middle of September. Pie and Lamington Cruise to Beverley What a great start to the 2016/17 cruising year. Beverley turned on some beautiful weather for this event again this year and the old Holden s that lined the main street made a spectacular display. More than 35 cars and 70 adults made the very picturesque trip up Greenmount hill to the lakes and then through the rolling hills on West Talbot Road into Beverley. Thanks to Craig Johns and Fiona for selecting the route to follow. Thanks also must go to Craig Poole and Fiona for their efforts in administering the event and keeping track of everybody that turned up on the day. The venue for this event was superb, well equipped, warm and well suited for the purpose. Vene, Bruce and Robyn Jones collected the pies at 6:30am and made their way to Beverley to prepare the way for the main party. When we arrived, morning tea was laid out and a hot cup of tea or coffee was available with a wonderful array of cakes, biscuits and other tasty treats. For all the cakes and biscuits laid out on the tables and for her organisation in the kitchen, we all need to thank Vene for her efforts. Many hands turned up to assist in the kitchen throughout the day and our thanks go to Bruce, Robyn, Jenny, Hilary, Craig and Fiona. Allan Williams, as always, parked himself in a corner in an accessible spot to collect fees, take care of the finances and balance the books at the end of the event. Well done Allan!! Tim also chipped in with announcements in a voice large enough to penetrate the noise generated by the gathering. If you are a new member and haven t been along to an event then look at our upcoming events and come along to one.

I want to thank the Committee for all their work throughout the year. This committee works together to ensure all events run by the Holden Club are enjoyable and interesting for all members and their families. I wish to acknowledge Allan for his tireless work behind the scenes whilst Vene and I tour around the countryside. I want to recognise our two newest life members, Vene and Allan and say that this prestigious award goes only partway towards recognizing the amount of work done by these members behind the scenes. We have a Committee that works together to make every event as good as it can be whilst recognizing that we are all volunteers and sometimes other events in life have to be given priority. Thanks to Tanya Morris for stepping up to manage the Merchandise whilst Vickie Salmon takes time out to help husband Jim get back to full health. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jim. Vickie is not standing for election on the Committee this year. The Committee and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vickie for her tremendous efforts over the last few years. It has been my pleasure to serve the Club, as President for the past year, couldn t have done it without a good committee. Best wishes to all for the up coming year.
