CRN: 198703583Z NEWS RELEASE IMMEDIATE RELEASE EXTENSION OF OPERATING HOURS FOR TRAINS AND BUS SERVICES ON CHRISTMAS EVE AND NEW YEAR S EVE SINGAPORE Commuters have more reasons to celebrate this festive season as the MRT, LRT, and selected SBS Transit and SMRT bus services will be operating beyond the usual hours on Christmas Eve (Thursday, 24 December 2009) and New Year s Eve (Thursday, 31 December 2009). Transit Link Pte Ltd, on behalf of the public transport operators, is pleased to announce the following extended operating hours: MRT TRAIN SERVICES SBS Transit North East Line Services NorthEast Line Services on Christmas Eve On Christmas Eve, the last Northbound train will depart HarbourFront Station at 1.36am and the last Southbound train will depart Punggol Station at 1.08am. The last Northbound train towards Punggol Station and southbound towards HarbourFront Station will depart Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.45am and 1.30am respectively. NorthEast Line Services on New Year s Eve On New Year s Eve, the last Northbound train will depart HarbourFront Station at 2.06am and the last Southbound train will depart Punggol Station at 1.38am. SMRT Train Services SMRT Train Services on Christmas Eve On Christmas Eve, the last Northbound train will depart Marina Bay Station at 1.20am and the last Southbound train towards Marina Bay will depart Jurong East Station at 12.37am. The last Eastbound train will depart Joo Koon Station at 1.00am and the last Westbound train will depart Pasir Ris Station at 1.08am. The last Northbound and Southbound trains will leave Orchard Station at 1.30am. There is no connection for the last Northbound-arriving train to an Eastbound or Westbound train at Jurong East Interchange. Passengers who need timings of last trains can refer to the notice boards at the respective stations. The last Circle Line train from Bartley Station will depart at 1.35am and the last train from Marymount Station will depart at 1.40am. The last northbound train which departs Marina Bay Station at 1.20am is the last train that will connect to the Circle Line at Bishan Interchange. Passengers on the last Eastbound and Westbound trains will be able to make a transfer to a Northbound train (ending at Yishun Station) at Raffles Place or City Hall Stations. They will, however, not have a connecting train to the Circle Line at Bishan Interchange. SMRT Train Services on New Year s Eve On New Year s Eve, the last Northbound train will depart Marina Bay Station at 1.56am and the last Southbound train towards Marina Bay will depart Jurong East Station at 12.52am. The last Eastbound train will depart Joo Koon Station at 1.23am and the last Westbound train will depart Pasir Ris Station at 1.33am.
Page 3 The last Northbound, Eastbound and Westbound trains will leave City Hall Station at 2.00am. There is no connection for the last Northbound-arriving train to an Eastbound or Westbound train at Jurong East Interchange. The last train timings are: - Last train departing from Tanah Merah Station to Changi Airport Station: 11.50pm. - Last train departing from Changi Airport Station to Tanah Merah Station: 12.06am. - Last train departing from Expo Station to Tanah Merah Station: 12.11am. LRT TRAIN SERVICES SBS Transit Sengkang LRT Services On Christmas Eve, the last Sengkang LRT train (East and West Loops) will depart Sengkang Town Centre Station at 2.15am. On New Year s Eve, the last Sengkang LRT train (East and West Loops) will depart Sengkang Town Centre Station at 2.45am. SBS Transit Punggol LRT Services On Christmas Eve, the last Punggol LRT train will depart Punggol Town Centre Station at 2.18am.
Page 4 On New Year s Eve, the last Punggol LRT train will depart Punggol Town Centre Station at 2.47am. SMRT Bukit Panjang LRT Services The last Bukit Panjang LRT train service will be extended to match the last SMRT train service at Choa Chu Kang MRT Station on both Christmas and New Year s eves. On Christmas Eve, the last Bukit Panjang LRT train will depart Choa Chu Kang LRT Station at 2.18am. On New Year s Eve, the last Bukit Panjang LRT train will depart Choa Chu Kang LRT Station at 2.52am. Notices will be put up on the station notice boards to inform passengers about the extended operating hours. BUS SERVICES SBS Transit Bus Services SBS Transit Nite Owl Services SBS Transit Nite Owl Services (1N, 2N, 3 N, 4N, 5N and 6N) will operate on the eves of Christmas, 24 December 2009 and New Year, 31 December 2009. All six Nite Owl services will be extended to operate from 12 midnight to 4am. Please refer to Annexe A for details. Bus Service 128 and Nine Fast Forward Services Service 128 and the two Fast Forward services Services 97e and 174e will operate special noon peak runs from 1.00pm to 2.00pm on both Christmas Eve (24 December 2009) and New
Page 5 Year s Eve (31 December 2009). There will be no operation during the evening peak hours. Bus Service 400 The operating hours for Service 400 will be extended on 31 December 2009 for the Countdown Party @ Marina Barrage. The last bus will depart from Shenton Way Terminal at 1.30am on 1 January 2010. Please refer to Annex B for details. SMRT Bus Services SMRT will be extending the operating hours of the following bus services to match the last MRT train timing on Christmas Eve and New Year s Eve. Diversion of Selected SBS Transit Bus Services Due to the closure of Orchard Road for Christmas celebrations from 1pm on 25 December 2009 to 1am on 26 December 2009, SBS Transit bus services 7, 14, 16, 36, 65, 111, 123, 124, 143, 162M, 174, 175, 502, 518, and the six Nite Owls will be temporarily diverted. For more details, please refer to the route diversion map in Annex D. Along Boon Lay Place, three services - Services 99, 240 and 246 - will also be temporarily diverted when the road is closed to vehicular traffic from 6pm on Thursday, 31 December 2009 to 1am on Friday, 1 January 2009 for this celebration. For more details, please refer to the route diversion map in Annex E. Diversion and Bypass of Selected SMRT Bus Services Celebrate Christmas in Singapore 2009 Due to the closure of Orchard Road for Christmas celebrations from 25 December 2009 1.00pm to 26 December 2009 1.00am, SMRT bus services 77, 106, 167, 171, 190, 700A, NR1, NR2, NR3, NR5, NR6, NR7 and NR8 will be diverted. For more details, please refer to the route diversion map in Annex G. Marina Bay Countdown 2009/2010 On 31 December 2009, due to the road closures at Temasek Avenue, Raffles Avenue and Esplanade Drive from 31 December 2009 5.00pm to 1 January 2010 2.00am, Services 75, 77, 106, 167, 171, 700A, 857, 960, NR1, NR2, NR5, NR6, NR7 and NR8 will be affected.
