Akamas Peninsular The Akamas peninsula is at the northwest extremity of Cyprus with an area of 230 square kilometres. Ptolemy described it as a thickly wooded headland, divided into two by summits rising towards the north. The peninsula is named after a son of Theseus, hero of the Trojan War and founder of the city-kingdom of Soli. Visitor attractions include a loggerhead turtle sanctuary and the Baths of Aphrodite where the goddess is said to have bathed, near Polis a town on the northeast side of the peninsula. Behaviour and expectations Everyone hopes to have an enjoyable trip. Remember you're a guest in another country, and it will be different from being in Egypt. The teachers are fully responsible for you and your actions, so you are expected to behave impeccably at all times. Should you break the rules explained to you before the trip, then you will have to face the consequences. This may include, but is not limited to being removed from the expedition and failing to achieve the Award you are working towards. Whilst away you are constantly representing yourself, your school and your country. Remember what people see and hear will be their impression of you. Do not cause hurt or offence to anyone. We expect pupils to behave in a safe and responsible way, in line with school expectations, listening to the teachers and following instructions at all times. Poor behaviour of any kind will not be accepted. There will be zero tolerance of alcohol and cigarette consumption during the trip. In the Hotel Respect the hotel rules and be polite to everyone Do not run around the Hotel and respect lights out time The expedition will be physically demanding and so rest is important - be considerate and quiet in and around the Hotel for your own and others sake, particularly later in the evening Valuables Valuables can be brought along at your own risk.
