Background of the Study In 2015, JICA Preparatory Survey Bangkok Chiangmai High Speed Rail Development Project was started April in 2018, Minister Arkhom (Thai) and Minister Ishii (Japan) had a conference MOT in Thai side concerned about Urban Development in the Station Areas (Nakhon Sawan Station Area & Phitsanulok Station Area) August in 2018, JICA Survey team has visited Thailand and study Preliminary Urban Development in the Station Areas 2

Topic 01: Recognition of Basic Information and Location in Two Station Areas (Phitosanulok Station Area and Nakhon Sawan Station Area) Study Flow to making Urban Development Concept Previous study of the Urban Development was focused on only inside SRT Station Site In this study, by recognizing National Plan and Location of the Station Areas, then, proceeds the study of the Urban Development in the two station areas. Managing world class natural and historical tourist attractions and supporting clean industries. Developing Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Ratchaburi, and Hua Hin as major cities that will support the 4 Northeastern Region 5 Northern Region 6 Southern Region economic expansion of the metropolitan area. Developing this region as the economic gateway for Indochina, conserving relics of ancient civilization and world heritage and maintaining good farmland. Promoting the development of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and Mukdahan as central cities that link the settlements. Developing this region as the economic center of countries along the Mekong River, developing road and railway networks, and developing Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, and Nakhon Sawan as core cities of the Northern Region. Maintaining the proportion of forests and water resources at 60% or higher in terms of area and creating settlements that are livable and maintain the characteristics of the Lan Na culture. Developing this region continuously as an economic bridge with other countries based on its cultural diversity and rich natural resources, and promoting the halal food industry to promote this region as a world class tourist attraction.
