PLASTICS AND PETROCHEM SECTORS IN Saudi arabia Total Saudi investments reached US$ 95 billion in petrochemicals, and US$ 50 billion in plastics USD 95 BILLION TOTAL SAUDI INVESTMENTS IN PETROCHEMICALS Saudi plastics and petrochemical exports grew from less than half a billion dollars in 1985, to 22 billion dollars in 2011. The Kingdom s plastics production increased significantly last year, and exceeded 1.7 million tons. Polymers account for 16 million tons of total yearly petrochemical production in the Kingdom. This is expected to increase to 20 million tons per year by 2020. The most important projects in the field: Sadara Chemical Company in Dhahran: a chemical, petrochemical and plastics project with 26 manufacturing plants and more than 38 products. Its sales volume is expected to reach 10 billion dollars yearly. The Plastic Area: an area designated for the plastics industry by the royal commission in which many companies participate in an open innovation process in the plastics field. Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Co. - SATORP: a huge project between Saudi Aramco and French Total in Jubail industrial city on the Arabian Gulf shore. Chevron Philips Chemical Company: a 1.2 billion dollar project to produce nylon and its derivatives.
Saudi Arabia plans to become the world s third largest exporter of petrochemicals, with a market share of 10% by 2015 Prince Saud Bin Thenayan, Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu SAUDI PLASTICS AND PETROCHEM 2014 Saudi Plastics and Petrochem grew year after year along with the growth of the sector in the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf. It became the largest industrial event in the region, gathering local, regional and international industrialists and professionals. The largest plastics and petrochemical companies in the Kingdom and the region take part in the event, in addition to a number of governmental industrial commissions from the Gulf States. It is the only industrial fair supported by the Saudi Industrial Property Authority.
