Studebaker Calendar President s Message I'd like to remind everyone of the non-traditional time for the September meeting. We are meeting on Saturday, Sept. 8, Drive Your Studebaker Day. Although I still need final confirmation, we plan to visit the car collection of Richard Hichkock's friend Randy Sword. He has a large eclectic car collection, including several Studebakers and a Rockne. He also has a Hupmobile, Franklin, Caddilacs, and several others. Also be planning for and thinking about suggestions for the Hudson joint meeting on the second Saturday in October. - Loren Nelson - Editor Commentary Congratulations are in order for our North Georgia SDC members Buddy and Dot Hunt. On Saturday, August 11, they held the Jefferson Lions Club car show in Jefferson, Georgia, just as they have for many years now. The show was highly successful. Dot reports the following: Our car show was very successful. No rain!!!!! We had 116 entries and raised approximately $1950.00 for the Lions Eye Program glasses and exams for the needy in the area. Our very own Stude member Frank Petru was there and won best Studebaker and received one of the 66 trophies we passed out. Well done, Buddy and Dot, and well done, Frank! -Tim Taylor - Random photos from the North Georgia SDC Archives: Raymond Lowey s daughter, Laurence Crazy Ray and Dianne Smith - 2 -

North Georgia Chapter SDC Meeting Minutes, continued Announcements / New & Old Business (continued): Wayne Lee reports that at the April 2018 SE Zone Meet in Florida, our Director Lanny McNabb met with several Zone members about finding a chapter to host the next (2019) Zone Meet. Because no other Chapter was stepping up, Lanny agreed to approach his home Chattanooga chapter to host it. But they vetoed the idea. As of now there are no plans for another SE Zone Meet. Last July Lanny invited Denny Foust, SDC International Meet (IM) Chairman, and SDC SE Zone Coordinator Allan Dias to Chattanooga to tour potential meet venues. Wayne went along for the ride. They found a couple of possibilities. The leading candidate venue is a place called Camp Jordan in East Ridge, TN, just north of the TN- GA border (a block behind the new Bass Pro Shops, visible from I-75). A new 260-room hotel is being built close by and would be ready in time for the proposed Meet. Lanny is planning to make a pitch to the Board of Directors at the International Meet in Tacoma, to hold the 2020 IM in the Chattanooga TN area in August (despite not having a dedicated Chapter to host the IM). He s calling his idea a zone-sponsored meet. He s proposing that he and Allan can enlist / draft a couple of members from several different chapters in our zone and ask them to build the needed Meet Committees. No one would work more than a couple of hours over the 4-day period of the event. However, he has indicated that if the SDC Board reaction is negative, he will drop the whole idea. Adjournment: At 3:35 PM, Alan Ziglin moved, Connie Bergeron seconded, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. A whole bunch of door prizes were generously provided by our hosts. The next meeting of the North Georgia chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club will be held on Saturday, International Drive Your Studebaker Day, September 8, at the Midway Meal House in Alpharetta. Details are provided on page 8 of this Hillholder. - 5 -
