The cabin may be suited to those with minor physical disabilities as it is all on one level with wide doors, although the bathroom has a shower tray which is about a 2 inch step up to the tray. There is a ramp access to the front door of the cabin. The cabin is located on leafy Felmoor Park and the park itself if just off the A1. Felmoor Park is a small development of luxury log cabins and static caravans set around a small lake in the heart of Northumberland. Arthur s Cabin is situated in a quiet lakeside corner of the park. At the site you have a reception and small bar serving some food. The cabin also overlooks a pretty lake. The market town of Alnwick is 11 miles north. No house telephone is provided in the cabin, nor Wi-Fi. Phone signal is fairly good depending on your service provider. No smoking is permitted in the house. The park has a lake, reception with small bar that serves food. The nearest village is Felton just 2.5 miles south where you can find an artisan bakery, good pub and village store. Your nearest town is Alnwick 11.5 miles north with many shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. A precise location is provided via a link to Google maps from the Arthur s Cabin webpage. The nearest larger town is Morpeth 9 miles south, the nearest city is Newcastle which is 23 miles south and the nearest airport is Newcastle International Airport which is also 23 miles south. Grocery Provisions Grocery provisions may be ordered online, via several stores including Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose, Food Local Food (locally sourced organic groceries suppliers) and Rothbury Wines, for delivery to the cabin after arrival. Any specific requirement may be handled by Coquet Cottages upon request, for which there may be a small charge depending upon the request. Welcome Pack A welcome pack is provided which typically comprises the following but is subject to minor variation at the discretion of the owner of the cabin: A selection of teas, coffees and sugar in sachet format A carton of fresh milk A packet of biscuits or home-made cake A small loaf of bread A jar of jam A pack of butter A bottle of wine Complimentary toiletries for adult guests (hotel sized 30ml bottles usually) One/two toilet rolls Dishwasher tablets and a small supply of washing liquid tabs Kitchen roll, foil and cling film are usually provided, but cannot be guaranteed Fresh flowers A local Gazette (published weekly on Thursdays) A treat, toilet bags and a dog towel for dogs Arrival and Car Parking Facilities Parking is available right outside of the cabin with a designated car parking bay for Arthur s Cabin. It provides level access into the property on flat paved stone. Additional parking can be parked next to the assigned driveway. The reception is at the entrance to the park and has lots of car parking bays. The road surface is mainly tarmac throughout the park. Access to reception is by a small step onto a decked area. The flooring area within the Reception is tiled/carpeted. Entry into the Property Access is from the tarmac road leading to all of the cabins and entry is from the tarmac driveway onto the wooden veranda. The entrance is not shared and has no steps. There is a small threshold over the front door but the rest of the entrance is level and not gravelled. Entry to the cabin is via the front door over a small 2 inch threshold. The key is retrieved from a key safe that has a combination lock, which is on the right side of the wall at the front door. The code for this combination lock is provided alongside directions prior to arrival. The key for the front door is in the key safe. Lights in the kitchen and lounge are lit to aid initial entry and familiarisation with the cabin. Contact details in case of any problems in accessing the cabin are provided with arrival instructions, but you can also go to the park reception if you cannot get in touch with the owner. 3 P a g e
Internal Passageway etc. The cabin is all on one level except a small lip of the front door threshold. The flooring throughout the cottage is wooden, with some room rugs to aid grip. Lounge and Dining room The lounge, dining area and kitchen are all open plan. There is a two seater settee and a three seater settee, a coffee table with rug underneath and a lamp on a bookcase. There is a pretty wooden fire with an electric fire that emits heat. The TV has Freeview, DVD player and built-in radio and is wall-mounted above the fireplace. The dining table is solid wood with 6 solid wood chairs. There is a dresser with a music docking station and additional lamp, with a mirror on the wall behind. No Wi-Fi is available in the cabin but can be bought for a small charge from the park reception. The Wi-Fi is not organised by the owner of the cabin. Self-Catering Kitchen The kitchen is easily accessed and has high quality solid wooden flooring. Kitchen appliances and facilities: Electric fan assisted oven 4 ring gas hob Fridge and freezer Microwave Dishwasher Electric kettle and toaster The crockery and pans are stored at both lower bench and higher bench level via cupboards. Cutlery is stored at waist height. Cups and mugs are stored at chest level cupboards. The work surfaces and splash back are all black granite. There is no washing machine or tumble dryer but the owners provide a 24 hr turnaround service for laundry. Lighting is very good and is provided by downlighters. There are 2 windows in the kitchen; one above the sink and one opposite the oven, letting in lots of private light but with blackout roller blinds for privacy. The boiler is situated in a wall cupboard in the kitchen. Bedrooms There are 3 bedrooms all level accessed from the open plan living area. The master bedroom has a king size (5ft wide) bed in a wooden bed frame with a medium firmness sprung mattress and wooden flooring underfoot. The bed linen is high quality and the duvet and pillows are 4 P a g e
synthetic. There is a window overlooking the driveway. There is a wardrobe, a dressing table, mirror and bedside tables with lamps. The other two bedrooms both have two twin single beds (3ft wide) with medium firmness sprung mattresses and in a wooden bed frame. All flooring is wooden. There is a mirror and a chest of drawers, as well as a share bedside table and lamp per bedroom. Both windows overlook the small road leading to the cabin. Bathroom The bathroom is accessed from the open-plan living area and has a sink, standard-height WC and heated towel rail. The shower is a hydro shower cubicle which a rainforest shower head, standard and multi-jet shower heads and the cubicle is raised about 4-5 inches from the floor. The floor is all wooden. There is a large, frosted glass window above the sink with a roller blind too for extra privacy as well as downlighers too. Outside Space and Hot Tub There is no private, enclosed outside space at Arthur s Cabin however there is lots of grassed area to the front of the cabin to use. There is a hot tub located to the left of the cabin which is private. There are paving slabs laid down to walk to the hot tub and 3 wooden steps up to climb into the tub. Solar panelled lighting is used to aid vision. Dogs Two well behaved dogs are permitted under strict house rules, which are provided upon enquiry and upon booking. A bowl of water is available in the kitchen on arrival. A dog towel, a treat and dog toilet bags are provided. Your dog is welcome in the park as long as the park rules are respected and all soiling is removed as all the grassed areas are public and children play in the park. An emergency torch is provided next to the front door. Emergency contact numbers are provided both at the time of booking and in a clearly labelled Guest Information File. Arthur s Cabin has its name displayed on the exterior of the building. All doors in the cabin are wide enough for wheelchair access. The approach decking area outside has a slight ramp suitable for wheelchair use. The outside paths around the cabin can be slippery in wet weather. You will be required to step over a threshold of the size of half a log to gain access via the front door. The cabin is strictly no smoking Mobile telephone reception is reasonable in the area although networks do vary. Cleaning of the cabin is carried out with Eco Friendly products where possible. The cabin has LPG heating with radiators and an electric stove-style fire in the lounge. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are located in the living room area.
