It was a royal residence but also a prison and a place of execution. One of its main buildings, known as the White Tower, was constructed by William the Conqueror in 1078.

The British Museum The Rosetta Stone is a stone with writing on it in two languages (Egyptian and Greek), using three scripts (hieroglyphic, demotic and Greek). Champollion deciphered hieroglyphs in 1822 thanks to the Rosetta Stone. The British Museum is one of the world s largest museums of human history. We saw the most popular objects in this museum : the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon frieze and the Egyptian department with its impressive collection of mummies.
The Parthenon frieze is a marble sculpture created to decorate the upper part of the Parthenon which was a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena in Athens. It is 160 meters long and represents 378 human figures (men, women, girls, boys, slaves, gods) and 245 animals.
This mummy was nicknamed Ginger because of his red hair. His body was preserved naturally by the hot dry sand of the Egyptian desert where he was buried. He was murdered, stabbed in the back, in his early twenties, 5,500 years ago.
