Good Ole Days Dinner Meeting May 8th by Mary Petersen The Brits took a journey back in time as they walked into the Riverview Tavern (aka Ma s Place) in White Pigeon, Michigan for their May dinner meeting. The restaurant décor was like entering into decades ago. The staff was very welcoming as they had set up places for about 25. We had a great turnout for this meeting as they had to accommodate more than 30 members. Most members dined on the pan-fried chicken for which the Riverview is famous. The service wasn t fast as everything was made to order. All in all, everyone enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the conversation. President Mike Montgomery gave everyone an update on club happenings, including the change in destination for the Fall Tour Traverse City, MI instead of Paducah, KY. Page 4 of 8
2013 Spring Drive by Mary Petersen The 2013 Spring Drive took place on Sunday, May 19th. The Brits met at the Marathon gas station on Capitol Avenue, then drove to the Wheatberry Restaurant & Tavern in Buchanan, Michigan for lunch, followed by a tour of Michigan wineries. Several Brits were already waiting at the Wheatberry; we had 11 cars and 21 Brits meeting for lunch. Before the tour started, one of the cars was overheating, so..members pitched in and tried to help. Someone always has a spare part handy for a quick fix! Page 5 of 8
First stop for the 7 cars on the wine tour was the Lemon Creek Winery. Some enjoyed tasting wine, while others sat outside enjoying the warm weather. One of the members discovered that he had no brake lights so once again Brits to the rescue. Next stop, Round Barn Winery. There were many wines and beers to taste. Some tasted both. It was getting late so some decided to start the journey home. Deb and Tom and Bob and Mary decided to try the new Hickory Creek Winery. It was small but had delicious wines. All in all, it was a great day for a ride in our Little British Cars!!!! Page 6 of 8
