REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration Fee: $10.00/Cub Scout if not camping Registration Fee: $15.00/Cub Scout if camping Registration Deadline: Received or Postmarked by Thursday, March 22, 2018 Late/Onsite Registration Fee- $15 day activities $20 day and/or camping LOCATION OF THE EVENT 18082 Airport Road, Gordonsville, VA 22942 Gordonsville Municipal Airport is about 1 mile from Gordonsville in Orange County just off of VA-15 North. AVIATION DAY CHECK-IN Daytime event check-in begins at 12:30pm. Camping Checking is from 4:15-4:45pm and 7:00-7:30pm. Night check-in for those not previously checked in is from 7:30-8pm. CUB SCOUT FAMILY CAMPING SATURDAY NIGHT Cub Scouts and their families have the opportunity to camp the night of April 14. Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts are not required to have a family member with them in order to camp, but another adult must take responsibility for the Scout. As usual, Scout may not camp with adults other than their own family members. on Saturday Night- weather permitting. GENERAL CAMPSITE INFORMATION Packs are responsible for maintaining a safe campsite. No vehicles will be allowed in the camping/activity areas. Follow the Guide to Safe Scouting. Drinking water will be provided in jugs at a central location, but your Pack is highly encouraged to bring drinking water. All campfires must be in an off the ground fire pit. Bring your campfire wood with you and a bucket for water. Take the leftover wood and ashes home! No animals are allowed at the camporee. SATURDAY EVENING PROGRAM The evening program will feature a tour of constellations, an inflatable planetarium, and telescopes! HEALTH FORM AND WAIVER FOR CAMPERS All campers must complete the Boy Scout Medical Form Parts A&B and the waiver included at the end of this guide. FIRST AID First aid will be available at the camporee. Come to HQ and look for the red cross if you have ANY injuries. SUNDAY MORNING VESPERS After the flag ceremony on Sunday morning, there will be a Vespers Service at 8:30am led by Gordonsville Baptist Church. CHECKOUT PROCESS Troops should practice LNT principles! Please packout all of your gear, trash, pioneering timbers, and left over firewood/debris. Be sure to properly clean your campfire area. Units must have a staff inspect the campsite before departure. CANCELLATION - BACK-UP DATE Due to the nature or this event, there is a higher than normal possibility of postponement due to rain or wind. Most pilots will not fly and many of our activities will not function in wind or rain. Should the event need to be postponed, the back- up date is April 21-22. Any decision to move to the back-up date will be sent to the leader listed on the Unit Registration Form no later than noon on Friday, April 13. It is upon that leader to inform the Pack of the change in schedule. DAYTIME AND CAMPING MATERIALS There is very little shade at this location, and sun screen will be essential. Insect repellent will also be appreciated. Otherwise, plan to bring all standard camping gear.

Packs who camp should plan to cook using camping stoves or on their raised fire pits that they bring with them. There are no picnic tables on site so any tables or chairs needed must be brought by the Pack/campers. Another option is to consider going camping light and eat out for dinner. Main Street If you are looking for an engaging activity between the afternoon and evening sessions of Aviation Day, the Exchange Hotel Civil War Medical Museum has agreed to remain open on April 14 until 6pm to accommodate visiting Cub Scouts and their families. The museum houses a world-renowned collection of artifacts relating to medical care during the Civil War in a railroad hotel that converted to a receiving hospital during the war. Perhaps you might also get to know some of the resident ghosts! The museum has a reputation of being haunted. A visit would qualify for the Bear s Paws in Action belt loop requirement 2b. Cost is free for 0-7 years old, $3 for 8-12, and $10 for 13 and older.
