Indian Economy Overview Rapid economic growth: GDP to grow by 7.2% in 2017-18 (World Bank) India's economy is capable of absorbing $50 billion in foreign direct investment per year. India's economy will grow five-fold in the next 20 years (McKinsey). The urban population of India will double from the 2001 census figure of 290m to approximately 590m by 2030 (McKinsey).
