Welcome to the musée des impressionnismes Giverny! Giverny has become famous the world over thanks to Claude Monet, who painted his series of Water-lilies there, amongst other works. As a result, this charming village in Normandy became one of the centres of Impressionism. The musée des impressionnismes Giverny provides an opportunity to gain a better understanding of this artistic movement with its diversity. Thanks to the temporary exhibitions, organized each year, visitors can enjoy masterpieces of Impressionist artists from around the world. Located at the gateway to Normandy, halfway between Rouen and Paris, the museum enjoys an ideal situation: it is a must-see destination for anyone interested in Impressionism. group visits large groups Various options are available to help you get the most from our exhibitions: self-guided tour guided tour* tour with an audioguide * Guided tours for groups are limited to 25 people. In the event of more, visitors are split into several groups. private tours workshops Outside of opening hours, the galleries can be reserved for a private tour. This gives you exclusive access to the exhibitions, enabling you to enjoy your guided tour in a unique atmosphere. A lecture in the auditorium can also be organized in the evening. The art workshops give you a chance to experience outdoor painting, as in the time of the Impressionists. Try our introduction to watercolor for adults and our finger painting for families! Workshops take place in the museum garden. Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters were sensitive to the refinement of an art that reflected their own aspirations, paving the way for a veritable artistic revolution. The exhibition will feature around 120 paintings and prints, from Monet to Bonnard. Henri-Edmond Cross Les Îles d Or, 1891-1892, Paris, musée d Orsay RMN-Grand Palais (musée d Orsay) Hervé Lewandowski Henri-Edmond Cross Plage de Baigne-Cul, 1891-1892, Chicago, Art Institute of Chicago Chicago, Art Institute of Chicago July 27 to November 4 Henri-Edmond Cross This exhibition devoted to the Neo-Impressionist Henri-Edmond Cross (1856 1910) will span the artist s entire career. Born in Douai, he discovered the light of the South of France in 1883, where he settled for good in 1891. At the beginning of the 20th century, together with Paul Signac, he was regarded as one of the fathers of modern art. The exhibition will emphasise his role in the history of the liberation of colour and his impact on 20th century avant-garde artistic movements. Hiramatsu Reiji Reflets de nuages dorés, (détail), 2010 Giverny, musée des impressionnismes, MDIG 2013.1.3 Hiramatsu Reiji Giverny, musée des impressionnismes March 30 to November 4 Hiramatsu Reiji in Giverny In 1994, the contemporary Japanese painter Hiramatsu Reiji discovered Claude Monet s Water-lilies at the Musée de l Orangerie and visited the artist s garden in Giverny. Landscapes with water and reflections became one of his favourite subjects. In this exhibition, panels and folding screens will reveal his mastery of the traditional Japanese technique called nihonga. 10
