Your Private Train The Namibian-German designed Desert Express went on its maiden voyage through the Namib Desert in 1998. The interior, a modern reminiscence of classy journeys of past days, reflects the colours and motives of the country: beautiful glass engravings of the Namibian fauna and flora, handmade amber-coloured leather armchairs in the lounge car, red golden woods with lovingly processed animal motives. In the Welwitschia Restaurant and in Stardune Bistro first-class 3-course menus and buffet meals are served. Enjoy Namibian and European gourmet cuisine with game such as Oryx or Kudu and fresh ocean specialities together with fine South-African wines. In the Spitzkoppe saloon waggon you can relax with a freshly tapped Windhoek Lager or a refreshing cocktail or read your board info booklet. By the way: there is no dress code on your private train and in the restaurants of your lodges. Every one of the four waggons offers six sleeping compartments. Each compartment has two lower beds (188 x 70 cm, 6 2 x 2 3 ), which in the daytime are transformed into 3 cosy chairs by your attentive stewardesses. The large panoramic windows offer amazing views and are ideal for photography. Every compartment has a shower, toilet and a pivoting wash basin with hot and cold water. The modern fixture of the compartments comprises individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, hair-dryer, 220 V socket and board telephone. There is a doctor onboard. 6
