. Welcome to Sunglow Resort Background Sunglow Resort Holdings Ltd, is a development company that has been hired to plan the resort of a major international hotel chain in the fictional place called Sirene. Financing comes from the hotel chain and The National Bank of Sirene. Sirene wishes to develop its tourism industry to help diversify its economy. Located in the Southern Hemisphere, the country s summer lasts from January to March, with average highs between 28 C and 300 C. Temperatures in the rainy season average a cooler 24 0 C to 26 0 C. Developers believe Sirene has the potential for year round tourism. The site chosen for the resort is on the southwest peninsula of Sirene. The nearest sizeable community is Loewestoff, with a population of 2700 people, located about 28 km east of the proposed site. The closest community however is Clarkson, a small fishing village with a population of only 120 people. Some of the people in Clarkson can trace their ancestry in the village back 200 years. It is the close-knit community, proud of its fishing heritage. The hotel consortium has asked the planning team (your group) to design a hotel complex that will contain up to 150 apartment units. The hotel(s) can be of varying sizes but needs to be able to accommodate 400 guests. Recreation facilities are outlined under resort design checklist. The resort requires an access road as well as pedestrian pathways around the resort.
