Melton Model AC Annual Display Day 19th November 2017 The Melton Model Aircraft Association (MMAA) held its annual display day at Mt Cottrell. MMAA has been conducting this event now for 5 years. The last one being the best to date according to all reports. Once again there were a number of pilots from various Clubs, providing a show for the general public. David Axon once again flew the lolly dropper for the kids which is always a hit. Well done to MMAA for putting on another successful display and promoting aeromodelling like so many Clubs do in our great Association. Our fantastic sport can only benefit from events like this. MAAA Instructors Course The VMAA will be running an instructors course at the Greensborough Model Aircraft Club (GMAC) (melways 184 E4) in March 2018 (To be confirmed). All Candidates must be nominated by their individual Clubs and must have Gold Wings. It would be appreciated if the Club Secretaries contact the VMAA Secretary, with their propose candidates. The course will be run over 1 day By completing the course you will be helping our sport by teaching within the National Framework, promoting safe flying and giving something back to our fantastic sport. Note to all MAAA Club instructors - Scanned copies of proficiency achieved are to be sent to the State Flying Instructor at: sfi@vmaa.com.au Wings will be sent out to recipients or Club, ONLY when documentation is received by the SFI MAAA Latest Newsletters The MAAA Newsletter brings you information on a number of areas at the National level. This includes reports from the Committee and contact details, Manual of Procedure (MOPS), National and International Events Competition dates and reports on such events. Click MAAA Newsletter to have a good read. MAAA Membership Register The VMAA Register has requested that Club Registers or indiviauls Club Members check their address and contact detials on renewal. This information is used to send out your FAI card and any other elctronic or written mail. All MAAA Members can change their own details as required by going to the MAAA Membership Register website and registering yourself to update your personal details. On the left side of the front web page of the MAAA Register website, you will see, Register MAAA Members may signup to update personal details. It is quick and easy to do. Click HERE to have a look at the website so you can update your details as required. Emails recorded on the database will be used to send out information such as bulletins, events and flyers. From the State Flying Instructor To all pilots wishing to give back to our hobby and particularly your Club, the latest Instructors Handbook is now available. This handbook forms the basis of the VMAA Instructor Course. As per MAAA MOP027, if you wish to become an instructor you must have Gold Wings in the discipline you wish to instruct. You need to be nominated by your Club to the VMAA Secretary to attend a one-day instructor course which is conducted on receipt of sufficient participants. The new course now has separate content for both Fixed Wing and Helicopter disciplines. If you wish to become an instructor and assist in advancing our great hobby/sport, please discuss with your Club for nomination. To download the new Instructor s Handbook, Click Here Requesting Wings ALL wings requests need to be sent to SFI@Vmaa.com.au and no where else. Long delays can occur (3-4 months) due to the requests being sent to the wrong email address or person. Thank you, VMAA SFI VMAA Video Library January 2018 Update. Effective Immediately the VMAA has dropped the $10 Entry Fee for joining the Library. You can now join for FREE. To join please contact the VMAA Librarian at: videolibrarian@vmaa.com.au and ask for a joining form and list of DVDs available. The V.M.A.A. has a very extensive DVD Library. It contains over 1,300 titles covering models and full size aircraft as well as aviation movies. There are many excellent instructional DVD that provide you with excellent information that will assist you in this great sport. There are also lots of titles covering many of the big model shows and competitions from all over the world as well as a huge selection of full size aircraft documentaries. You are really missing out on something if you are not a member of the library. It only costs $6-00, which includes the return postage, for 4 DVDs. The video library is a great resource, if you are not using then it why not. You get 4 DVD s delivered to your house for only $6-00. This includes the return postage.
