The Inside Edge A P u b l i c a t i o n o f t h e N e w a r k S k i C l u b Ski with the Best Newark Ski Club Meetings Where: Harbor Hills Country Club Hebron, OH When: Social Hour 6:00 PM Club Meeting 7:00 PM Madam President Says Wow, can you believe all of the snow we have been getting! I hope all of you have been taking advantage of it by getting out and skiing locally. How often do you get a chance to ski in 15 inches of powder here in Ohio? It s hard to believe but it s true. There are still a few weeks left in this year s local season so make sure you get up to Snow Trails and support them. I have even heard rumors of some resorts within a few hours of here staying open until April 1. So there s plenty of time to make a weekend trip somewhere. But it is almost spring so remember it s time to be thinking about elections. We have had a few nominations, but we are always open to more. If for some reason you think you won t be able to attend the April meeting we want you to find the Absentee Ballot that is in this newsletter. The offices available and who has been nominated are filled in for you, but you can always write in someone else s name. Be sure to send this in, in time for us to receive it before the April 6 meeting, so your vote will be counted. March s meeting will be back at Harbor Hills. Remember social hour is at 6:00 pm and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm. I m sure there will be plenty of stories to share about the Seven Springs bus trip and you ll want to be there to hear them. See you on the slopes! It will be a fun, fun time. Membership Birthdays Joe & Nancy Swick Leaders News From The OVSC The OVSC will be running their Winter trip to Breckenridge in 2011. The 2010 South America Trip has changed to be a bit more flexible. The trip will be to Galapagos, Machu Pichu, and Argentina for skiing. Machu Pichu will be August 22 to 28. Galapagos is the week before and Argentina is the week after. You can do...gm, A, M, MA, or, if you hit the lottery, GMA. You just can't do Galapagos only. If you follow the reasoning on that one, then this one will be easy. Page FEBRUARY 4 2010 4 Words from Joe Activities Phillips * * * All About Crusing Hi Club Folks, My wife and I just got back from a week of schooner sailing in the Bahamas. Then I had to work in Hebron 3 fourteen hour days!!! UGH!! Our captain on the Schooner Liberty Clipper out of Nassau is from Alaska, born and raised. He was so excited that we were taking a cruise of SE Alaska!!! Capt. Daniel is also the captain of another sailing schooner out of Seattle that is a sailing school sailing throughout SE Alaska and the coast of British Columbia!! He had a lot of good things to say about his native shoreline, glaciers, and ports of entry. He aso said that the first week of September was really a great time to visit that area!! So the more we learn about the area the more excited we are about the trip. Please look for a copy of the brochure or ask us to send you one. For folks who have never cruised there are several (almost continuous) meals per day that are part of the package. Usually there are some exclusive restaurants also on board but the base meals are great. And somewhere on the ship is also a hamburgers and hotdogs grill too (Usually near the swimming pools). Most large cruise ships have a large all person pool and water slide, plus an adults only smaller pool and hot tub(s)!!! Most cruise ships have a topside walking/running track that is great (for me) to use very early in the morning!! I love mornings and prefer to nap in the afternoons. And if you get up early enough you can also take a late morning nap and an afternoon nap!!! LOL Last week a couple of days I overslept and slept through my morning nap and it just about ruined my whole vacation trip!!! LOL Such is the life of a ski club member!!! sincerely, cheers, judojoe Absentee Ballot * 2010 Election of Officers * Absentee Ballot The office of President 2 yr term, Vice President 1 yr term, Treasurer 2 yr term, At Large 1 yr term, and Newsletter 2 yr term are up for election.
