Hoses for foodstuff and drink processing
for various food and beverage industrial processes Oy s food quality hoses are produced on clean anodized aluminium mandrels by experienced professionals. This quarantees hoses high level of purity and suitability to the end user application. Modern and highly automated production lines quarantee good dimensional stability and excellent adhesion between different layers of the hoses. This way it is also possible to meet the requirements of customer-specific solutions. Our manufacturing program covers all mandrel built textile and metal or plastic reinforced food quality hoses as well as customer specific solutions and constructions, i.e. fixed dimensions, materials and right couplings according to end-user operating conditions. Stock hose sizes can be found in our hose product catalogue (please see www.teknikum.com). Our food quality hose assortment is developed according to the most common international and European standards. All our food quality rubber compound components are mentioned in the substance lists of U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA, (paragraph 21 CFR 177.2600 Rubber articles intended for repeated use), as well as in the German BfR (XXI Bedarfsgegenstände auf Basis von Natur- und Synthesekautschuk, category 2 rubber). The FDA test procedures describe the total amount of non-volatile substances transferring from the rubber compound into the food simulant during the test period of seven and the next two hours. All our rubber compounds have been tested according to the procedure described by FDA and the compounds have conformed to the FDA and BfR requirements with excellent results. European Parliament and Council Regulation 1935/2004 is used as a guideline for manufacturers to comply when producing food quality products. According to the regulation, products should not transfer their materials to processed food in such extent that it may endanger the health of people, may cause unacceptable changes in composition of the food, or may lower organoleptic properties of the processed food. Food quality products should be marked with the food quality logo (beside). Also Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is applied according to the regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006, when marking products with food quality label. 2

Lacto-Tek 1410 1420 SL Lacto-Tek is a multi-purpose foodstuff, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry hose for transfering multiple foodstuff materials, including fatty and oily materials, e.g. animal and vegetable fats, oils, jams and milk products. Lacto-Tek is a multi-purpose food quality suction and pressure hose made of nitrile rubber (NBR). Its homogenous NBR lining is smooth, neutral in taste and odour, as well as resistant to animal and vegetable fats and oils. In addition to resistance to fats and oils, resistance to detergents and disinfectants is ensured as required in practice. Due the cover rubber, the hose is well resistant to abrasion, ozone and uv-radiation. The hose construction allows using the hose in fixed installations or as a reel hose. Lacto-Tek hose lining is made of high quality white food quality nitrile rubber compound, THR41, developed according FDA-requirements by. The smooth hose lining ensures no ground for bacteria to grow, and that tastes and odours do not transfer to the processed materials. Hose cover is made of blue abrasion resistant nitrile rubber and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound, which protects the hose in various operating conditions. Pressure hose Lacto-Tek 1410 is reinforced with textile. Nevertheless, the thick and rigid hose wall quarantees good vacuum stability. The hose can also be used in conditions where the hose is in danger to be run over. Pressure and suction hose Lacto-Tek 1420 SL, reinforced with textile and steel spiral, is lighter and more flexible version of Lacto-Tek. With this construction Lacto-Tek 1420 SL allows even more fluent and ergonomic handling of the hose even in tight spaces. Lacto-Tek withstands continuous work temperature up to 80 C. Clean-Tek 1710 Clean-Tek is a steam and hot water hose for cleaning and other process purposes in food and beverage industries, as well as high hygiene purposes in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cosmetic industries. Clean-Tek 1710 is designed for transferring steam and hot water in high hygienic cleaning processes of food and beverage industries. However, it is suitable for some pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cosmetic industry purposes as well. The hose enables transferring materials in temperature up to 120 C. In addition to the high temperature resistance, Clean-Tek 1710 is reinforced with textile, which allows higher working pressures, e.g. in cleaning processes. Due the hose construction it is suitable for fixed installations or it can be used as a reel hose. neutral in taste and odour. The lining ensures that bacteria have no ground to grow, and that tastes and odours do not transfer to the materials conveyed. The hose cover is made of animal and vegetable fat and oil resistant blue EPDM rubber, which makes the hose resistant to abrasion, ozone and uv-radiation. Also commonly used cleaning agents and disinfectants are tolerated by Clean-Tek 1710 hoses. Because of the high temperature range of the hose, washing and cleaning the hose will not become a problem. Couplings and clamps The recommended couplings to be used with food quality hoses are dairy couplings and triclamp couplings. SMS 1145 male dairy coupling with crimped ferrule SMS 1145 female dairy coupling with SL-clamp In order to quarantee safe and realiable connection between hoses and other constructions, we highly recommend using SMS (Swedish Manufacturing Standard) 1145 dairy couplings, DIN 11851 dairy couplings or ISO 2852 triclamp couplings. The recommended methods to tighten these couplings are crimped ferrule, SL-clamp or safety clamp complying with EN 14420-3. We have also tested our hoses with these couplings and clamps. Nevertheless, there are other coupling solutions, e.g. flange couplings and other EN 14420 couplings. In case of other coupling solutions needed, please inquire. Dairy couplings, complying with SMS 1145 or DIN 11851, are connected by DIN 405/1 threads. Several food industry sectors use dairy couplings in The Nordic Counties, Central Europe and Russia. Triclamp coupling is based on standard ISO 2852, which is an international standard for stainless steel clamp pipe couplings for the food industry. The couplings are used internationally e.g. by food, beverage, chemical, medical and pharmaceutical industries. Coupling operating method is simple, safe, and quick to connect and disconnect. Crimped ferrule is the most hygienic clamp alternative due its smooth outer surface. It is compressed on the hose and coupling by machinery. Crimped ferrule is recommended to be done by hose manufacturing company professionals. In case of external installation, please ask for more instructions. SL-clamp is light, compact and easy to use clamp made of stainless steel. SL-clamp can be welded to piping. It is also founded, that in high temperatures SL-clamp causes less damage to the hose than many other clamps. Safety clamp, in compliance with EN 14420-3 and DIN 2817, are used widely in food, pharmaceutical, chemical and transport industries. A great advantage of safety clamp is that it can be tightened when needed. Washing and cleaning Processing foods and drinks or other high-purity materials requires cleaning and washing the hoses. Washing and cleaning the food quality hoses Especially long-term storage or inappropriate handling of hoses may cause tastes and odours into food quality hoses. Therefore the hoses should be cleaned before first-time installation. A good way to do the cleaning is to steam the hoses twice with steam of 130 C for 20 minutes at the maximum. The hoses should be let to cool down between the two steamings. Alternatively, the hoses may be flushed for 24 hours with 40 C concentration consisting of one liter water, 4 grams caustic soda and 5,8 grams salt. After the treatment the hoses should be flushed with drinkable water before food process use. The chemical resistance of hoses depend on various factors, such as working temperature, chemicals conveyed, conveying speed and duration. Consequently it is hard to give exact washing and cleaning instructions, if the actual operating conditions are unknown. The table below gives advices based on laboratory research. The table includes recommended maximum temperatures and durations for hot water and steam. With the other substances the washing should be done by draining through the hose using the maximum concentrations and temperatures for the substances mentioned in the table.
