Welcome to the Malton Tastes and temptations 4 A beautiful Victorian building adorned with stunning architecture, charm and steeped in history. Built in 1854 as The Railway Hotel, Killarney, the hotel was the first to be owned by a Railway Company in either Britain or Ireland. In 1861, Queen Victoria decided to take a country jaunt, staying with the Herberts at Muckross Park. The Queen s visit put Killarney firmly on the map as a tourist destination and since then has become one of Ireland s premier tourist destinations. In 1895 Killarney became acquainted with package tour programmes for the first time when Thomas Cook Travel decided to include the town among its premiere holiday destinations. Since then the hotel s history has been marked with a steady stream of celebrities and dignitary guests, including Princess Grace of Monaco, Pat Nixon, The Queen of Tonga, Charlie Chaplin, and Tyrone Power. Even Jackie Kennedy graced the halls. The hotel facilities extended down through the years to include a purpose built conference centre which has resulted in all Irish Prime Ministers or Taoisigh having stayed here down through the years. Beverage selections The Malton s signature bar, The Punchbowl, has a classical yet traditional atmosphere. Two blazing fires, soft velvety sofas and friendly service top the experience. It's easy to pass a whole afternoon in front of the fire - without once looking at your watch - sipping a pint and reading the paper. Food is served from noon until late. At the end of the evening, unwind or mingle in these stately rooms, where drinks have been served in style for more than a century. 6 avintage event The Killarney Wine Rooms is Kerry's only interactive walk in wine cellar where guests can appreciate an extensive range of wines from the best regions around the world in a stylish and relaxed atmosphere. Our Sommelier will be there to give you advice on our great selection of wine to help you choose the perfect bottle or to explore different wines by using our self service Enomatic wine dispensing system using a prepaid debit card. We also serve delicious food, including classical dishes, sharing platters, grills and tempting desserts. We have a Whiskey Corner which sits comfortably in the corner of the bar. An impressive mahogany cabinet. with glass mirrors etched with uisce beata houses a collection of over 190 of the world s finest whiskies from Ireland, Scotland, America, Canada, Wales and Japan. You can choose from the extensive menu of whiskies and our bar staff will be only too happy to help you choose the perfect tipple or why not try a Whiskey Flight, a whiskey tasting experience where you can sample a selection of Irish and Scottish Whiskies. 7
