Day Camps & SUMMER PROGRAMS Hyde Park camps and summer programs are among nearly two dozen Y experiences offered around the Boston metro area, ensuring kids have a fun and exciting summer! At the Y, kids spend the day creating arts and crafts, exploring science and technology, swimming, participating in field trips, exploring nature, learning about our many cultures and making new friends and memories. Summer learning, including literacy activities, is also part of the Y summer experience.

HYDE PARK Day Camps Camp Ponkapoag s beautiful wilderness setting features woodlands, open meadows, a quaking bog, ponds and 125 miles of hiking trails. This spectacular camp setting provides the space for our huge list of activities. ACA Accredited: The Ponkapoag Outdoor Center is proud to be American Camp Association Accredited, providing a safe, nurturing environment for all campers. Our programs educate and support the whole child and meet the 300 Standards of Health, Safety and Program Quality. Ropes & Outdoor Challenges for Kids (ROCK) Cooperative games, trust building initiatives, and ropes course elements utilized in our ROCK program challenge campers to exercise critical thinking skills, respect teammates, and build self-esteem and leadership skills through exciting activities. Environmental Science Gain awareness and appreciation of the great outdoors through hiking, outdoor living skills and science activities. Campers explore a quaking bog, learn about protected species, maintain a vegetable and flower garden and participate in orienteering treasure hunts. Aquatics Offering both free swim and structured swim lessons, campers enjoy splash time with friends and counselors. Certified lifeguards are always present, and all campers are grouped by ability level. All of the staff and counselors were wonderful. We were met with warm smiles and greetings every morning I am so happy that I found your camp program. He is looking forward to returning next summer! Priority registration for current childcare participants and Y members begins February 1. Registration for new campers begins February 15. Camp deposits are due at the time of registration. The deadline to register for camp is the Thursday prior to the session start date. Visit ymcaboston.org for deposit details. Enrollment Forms All registration packets, complete with your child s medical form, must be received one month prior to your child s first day of camp. The physician form must be completed by your child s doctor. Due to severe allergies, we maintain a nut free environment. Visit ymcaboston.org for forms or stop by the Welcome Center. Financial Assistance The serves people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes and strives to make camp fees affordable for families in need. Pick up a financial assistance application at the Welcome Center. Membership Y membership is a great way to spend quality time with your kids and save on camp fees. Visit our Welcome Center or call us to join. TRANSPORTATION Bus transportation is available to the Ponkapoag Outdoor Center from the following areas to camp and back: Jamaica Plain Roxbury Hyde Park Dorchester Visit ymcaboston.org for more information. Time and location of pick up and drop off are to be determined. Locations are subject to change based on need and/or use. Please indicate your preference for transportation location/stop on the Registration form. Buses are monitored by Ponkapoag Outdoor Center staff at all times. DAILY LUNCH AND SNACK Daily lunch and snack are provided by the Massachusetts Department of Education Summer Food Program at no cost to families. Participation in this program is optional. Campers explore weekly themes through arts and crafts, literacy, outdoor activities and swimming. All activities promote age appropriate development, and encourage friendships and fun. Swim lessons take place twice per week. I am not sure what my son s summer would have been if I had not found Scamper Camp. He has gained confidence in himself and he is more social than he was at the beginning of the summer. Scamper Camp makes life a little easier for him. We will be back next year!
