Work continues on Danny, Peter, David and Ian s Zenair CH701. On the left we see a nearly complete fuselage sitting on the undercarriage. Mid left is the Suzuki engine on the bench prior to being assembled with the engine mount, reduction drive and painting. Mid right we see that the wings and windscreen have been fitted along with struts, and ailerons. The group continues to do the work required to bring this plans built aircraft to completion in the New Year. Once again a fine effort with excellent workmanship being done. Gavin McGrath is currently restoring his PeeWee ultralight back to flying condition after recovering the wings and tail section. It has given Gavin the opportunity to fully inspect and upgrade the condition of these surfaces prior to recovering. For Gavin it has been a real learning experience in handling new processes and materials with help from Arthur Anderson. On the left we see the uncovered all flying elevator and one of the wings at the bottom with new shrunk fabric applied. We hope to see the PeeWee flying again soon.

On the left we see Richard Faint landing his Tinny One once again at Watts Bridge. Richard has now flown off the test period and was returning from a short flight to Dalby on this Saturday morning. This 503 powered aircraft flies very well and is a credit to its builder. Construction of number two Tinny continues. Rob Shaw taking off for another local flight at Watts Bridge after doing some maintenance. Rob is also building more flying hours every weekend as weather and time allows. Rob now has the 1600 VW running really sweetly with easy starting, often on the first swing of the propellor. Slick looking gyro seen at Watts. This one is a two seater with a tall tail and a prerotator to spin up the main rotor to help the take off run. It is an impressive well built machine powered by a Rotax 912. The gyros are often seen at Watts Bridge with a small but very dedicated group who bring them out for some local flying and testing. Another of the more traditional gyros that comes to Watts Bridge. This one has the lowered thrust line, seat tank, nose pod, tall tail and pre-rotator we see on the later gyros. Being a single seater, it is powered by a Rotax 503 with a composite, three bladed propellor.

QUA member Gordon Clarke is interested to speak to any members interested in establishing an aircraft owners syndicate to purchase and operate a suitable enclosed one or two seat aircraft to be based at Caboolture Airfield. Gordon estimates that for a syndicate of three or four people, the initial costs to be $7,000 to $9,000 to cover the aircraft purchase with ongoing costs to cover hangarage, insurance and maintenance. A minimum wet hourly rate for flying operations would be determined to suit the aircraft purchased. Interested persons can contact Gordon Clarke on 0437878375 or 07 34252551(h) or via email gordon@adf-serials.com to discuss further details. Gordon Clarke is also interested to talk to any QUA members who may be planning to attend Natfly in Narromine next Easter. Whether you are driving or flying, now is a good time to start planning. Natfly is always good to visit to meet other flyers. Contact details for Gordon are as above. As has been usual practice, there is no newsletter or general meeting in January, 2007. The newsletter will be sent out prior to the general meeting in February, 2007. Any relevant material or photos about builder s projects, flying, aircraft or what, where people may fly to are required for the newsletter. Your participation is required to make it relevant and interesting.
