TRADITIONAL DAY REGISTER FOR CAMP 1. Submit camp registration form to the YMCA location where your child will be attending camp. 2. Pay for the first week of summer camp. 4. Attend Parent Orientation-check with the Y for dates and times. Weekly themed activities allow campers to create arts and crafts, explore science and technology, swim, participate in field trips, appreciate nature, and better understand different cultures. CAMP THEMES CHALLENGE WEEK - Week 1 Everyday is a new challenge that will test your campers mental and physical endurance through games & scavenger hunts. SUMMER SAFARI - Week 2 We are going on a wild safari adventure! This summer safari will foster a love of nature and animals. We will explore the zoo, meet friendly zoo animals, and make memories. BACK TO THE FUTURE Week 3 Explore the endless opportunities of timetraveling. Join us as we play games and dress up like people from the past live cavemen and then warp to the future like Jetsons. PIRATE WEEK - Week 4 Have some swashbuckling pirate fun! Use maps to find lost treasure, pirate hats/sand art, try shipwreck stew, capture the flag and survive the cannonball attacks through the obstacle course to find your way safely home. MAD SCIENTIST - Week 5 Join us for some amazing science experiments and cool projects. Everyday offers a new experience for campers to ask questions and find solutions using everyday science experiments. SPACE STATION VACATION - Week 6 3, 2, 1...Blast off to infinity and beyond! Campers will travel to the stars while playing space games and participate in the friendly competition of building space crafts. HEROES WEEK - Week 7 Celebrate and salute real-life heroes as well as fictional super heroes. Take the superhero character challenge, dress up as a favorite hero, play superhero games/crafts and lend a hand as we pay it forward thru community service and create the hero in all of us. SPORTS WEEK - Week 8 Sports week will include development of skills, fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship while reinforcing the values of sports that were pioneered at the YMCA through the years. FARM LIFE - Week 9 Campers will explore wildlife through hands-on learning about life on the farm. OCEAN COMMOTION - Week 10 Every day is a great day to get soaking wet! Campers will participate daily in outdoor water games or indoor gym and pool games such as beach towel volleyball, learn water safety, and water polo. SAMPLE FIELD TRIPS Bowling, Skating, Zoo, Bowling, Movies, State Capitol and more! GREAT EXPECTATIONS All campers will be required to follow camp rules and display a positive behavior. We want all children to enjoy the company of the other children in camp.
ROLE MODELS We refer to our summer camp staff as Role Models because we expect them to set the best example for our summer camp kids. To achieve Role Model status our staff completes the following trainings: CPR/First Aid and AED certification Official clean criminal background checks Completed professional drug screening Child abuse prevention policies and training Darkness to Light Child Abuse Prevention certification 40 hours of YMCA Childcare Training in: Day Camp Safety & Supervision Playground Safety Trip & Transportation Staff Safety at Camp Activity & Game Facilitation Aquatic Safety/Pools *Certified professional lifeguards on guard during swim time NEW THIS YEAR! TEEN CAMP AGES 13-15 SUMMER FUN & FRIENDS CAMP TIMES 7AM-6PM Get ready to experience your best summer yet! Teens will engage in a variety of activities designed to build friendships and develop interpersonal and leadership skills. Teens will spend their week participating in field trips and camp activities such as team building games, swimming, mastery skills, sports and more. Teens will also have the opportunity to lead specific camp programs for our younger campers. Teen Camp is a great way to spend the summer whether you re looking to learn new hobbies, have fun or develop your leadership skills. LEADERSHIP GAMES FIELD TRIPS SWIMMING FUN NEW THIS YEAR! GREATER EXPECATIONS ALL CAMPERS MUST COMPLETE AN INTERVIEW PRIOR TO ATTENDING CAMP. TEENS WILL BE SELECTED TO ATTEND CAMP BASED ON THEIR DESIRE TO ATTEND AND WILLINGNESS TO LEARN.
EVERYONE S A CAPTAIN TEEN CAMP THEMES DOLLARS AND $ENSE Teens will have fun learning the basics of how money works and how to work with their money. These future leaders will also gain key knowledge in best practices and how to work towards their goals. PUTTING YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD Teens will be fine tuning their best selves through giving speeches, selling themselves by practicing interviewing and writing resumes. They will also learn about civic engagement with the opportunity to champion a cause. Teens will get to author a bill for legislation and debate with each other about their chosen causes. RESCUERS R US During this week our teen leaders will gain skills that will harness their ability to be responsible. They will attain knowledge and certifications in the areas of babysitting, water safety and CPR/First- Aid. FULL STEAM AHEAD Having fun while making things work will be a key goal during this week. Teens will participate in meaningful S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) activities by creating and building things such as robots, catapults, bridges and other fun projects and equipment. COMMUNITY COMMISSION This week will provide opportunities for teens to give back to their community through various service learning projects that help build relationships and give a heightened sense of community. SPORTING WARS On your mark, get set, GO! Everyone will get to experience the thrills of sporting and competing with each other. Team work and team building activities will be a key element this week as they learn how to work within group dynamics. FOOD, FUN, AND FITNESS Teen leaders will practice being young chefs, health nuts, and nutritional gurus. They ll learn about nutritional balance while preparing some simple and tasty meals for themselves. MEDIA MAKERS Extra, Extra, Read All About It! Our teens will be exploring the world of journalism in both print and video. They will have fun writing all about the adventures of camp while learning what it means to be a star on camera and in the news. I had so much fun this summer.
