Each and every camp centers on our five character development traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. We also combine fun and adventure with age-appropriate, camper-centered programs which incorporate new skills and group activities, all in a safe environment. No problem! Sports camps can be paired with either a morning or afternoon of traditional day camp. Originally started in 1973 as WSY, we ve grown to become one of the largest and most respected swim teams in North Carolina as well as across the country. Swim lessons are available during summer camp for ages 3 and up at various times during the day. Separate registration is required. Although the movie begins at sunset, the fun always begins at least one hour prior to dusk. Kids enjoy the Jerry Long Family YMCA playgrounds, as well as outdoor games such as kickball, nine square and volleyball led by Y leadership. There are always food concessions for purchase. TEEN CAMPS CAMP SUMMIT Remove any possibility of summer boredom with Teen Camp. During each action-packed day you will meet new friends, stay active, and try new things with choices the teens make for themselves, team-building activities, new games geared for teens, ice breakers, cooking class, science experiments, and much more. Field trips and activities are specifically designed with teens in mind. We call our trained staff professional role models who not only provide a safe environment, but ensure campers have a ton of fun. SAILING CAMP Want to learn to sail and enjoy a beautiful Lake every day? Then Camp Sails is for you! We are pleased to announce instruction by our partners at Adventure Sails. Campers will learn sailing terms and the practical how-to s of sailing with plenty of hands-on wind in the hair sailing. Safety is a top priority and we will have a lifeguard present with all of the campers wearing life vests. GRADES: Completed 2nd-5th SESSIONS: 2 (June 25-29), 6 (July 23-27) 8:30 am - 12:00 pm ART CAMP More than typical arts and crafts! Campers will work on one major art project all week, with small ones every day. On Friday the campers get to present their art work in their very own Art Show. Parents are invited to come. SESSIONS: 1 (June 18-22), 7 (July 30-August 3) LEGO CAMP Campers will use their creativity to build houses, trucks, cars, cities and planes. Each camper will get to take home their own Lego kit at the end of the week! Not eligible for Customize Your Day Pricing. SESSIONS: 2 (June 25-29), 8 (August 6-10) GUYS ROCK Come out for a week of guy time and true celebration where we will be playing sports, and various outdoor activities. We will also be building model rockets, pinewood derby racers and having a tournament at the end of the week where guys will face off against the girls. GIRLS RULE Come out for a week of girl time where we will be cooking, dancing, jewelry making, and lots of other female fun! We will also be building pinewood derby racers and having a tournament at the end of the week where the girls will face off against the guys COOKING CAMP Campers will learn basic cooking skills and will make kid-friendly meals. GRADES: Completed 2nd-5th SESSIONS: 5 (July 16-20), 9 (August 13-17) DANCE CAMP Campers will study ballet, modern, jazz and hip hop. Don t worry; there will still be time for some games and a fantastic Friday performance at Day Camp closing assembly at 4:00! SESSIONS: 6 (July 23-27) CHEER CAMP Campers will learn everything from safe stunts to spirit fingers. No experience required, just a great attitude and a desire to get the crowd off their feet! SESSIONS: 8 (August 6-10) CAMP CHALLENGE Does your Camper love Challenges like the ones on Minute to Win It, Cut throat Kitchen, Survivor, Amazing Race and many others? Then Camp Challenge is the camp for them. We will have an excitement filled week where we take competing to a new level fun. Campers are picked up at the Robinhood, Fulton and William. G. White, Jr. Family YMCAs and transported to YMCA Camp Hanes where they will spend the day participating in activities like canoeing, swimming, lake slide, water zip line, archery, arts and crafts, nature fun and field games.
