Places for implementation of WANDA Pilots Pilot Activities are implementedin theupper and Lower Danube Region. Pilot activities
Lower Danube Region In the Lower Danube Region, a mobile collection service for oily and greasy ship wasteis implemented between Romania (Giurgiu) and Bulgaria (Rousse). Measures have also been planned for the Port of Galati and Port of Tulcea, where pilot actions for oily and greasy ship waste and for other ship waste, including recyclables, are also foreseen.
Upper Danube Region 1. Operation of a mobile bilge water collection servicein Austria and Hungary for a period of 2 X 20 days in 2011. 2. Stationary collection of other ship waste is carried out in Baja, HUand in Vienna, AT.

Permissions- Austria 1. Permissions according to Waste Law For collection and treatment of hazardous wastes For the operation of a mobile treatment plant 2. Permission according to Water Law For the discharge of the cleaned water 3. Additionally, issues of cross-border operation had to be clarified. If waste is transported beyond national borders notification is required! Different authorities were involved on ministry level, province and district level! However, the process could be completed successfully and the 1st pilot run couldstart at theend of May 2011.

Monitoring A special computer programme is installed on the bilge water collection vessel! The following data are processed: 1. Vessel type cargo vessel, tanker, push boat, (daily) passenger vessel and cabin vessel 2. European vessel register number 3. Date of delivery 4. Sections/ Place of delivery The Danube has been split into sections(see excel file!) 5. Amounts of bilge water[m³], waste oils[m³], solid oily and greasy ship wastes(filter and bins: number; greases and rags: weight- tons) 6. Questionnaire for additional information
