A DEFINITION Xplor Fuego is a Tour that takes visitors back to the beginning, to the creation of fire, a world when man had to truly use his instincts, a journey back to the simple life, with activities that allow them to rediscover a starry sky and the wildest side of the jungle, feel the darkness and experience their most primitive side. B OUR MISSION To guarantee the scope of Experiencias Xcaret Group by continually maximizing our value in the journey we are in. C OUR VISION To be unique in sustainable tourist entertainment D OUR VALUES Creativity Profitability Integrity Congruency Honesty A Spirit of Service Commitment Equality Social responsibility 2

1 GENERAL INFORMATION Opening date Maximum capacity Distance from Cancun Location Reference points July 1st 2013 400 visitors per day 34 miles south of the airport Xplor can be found next to the Xcaret entrance at kilometer 282 Federal highway 307 Just 34 miles from the Cancun International Airport. Only 3.6 miles south of Playa del Carmen and 33 miles north of Tulum 2 HISTORY Cave men s social life took place around a bonfire. Nature itself in its volcanoes and the lightning that set trees on fire, paved the way to the first spark that was lit many thousands of years ago by rubbing two stones together or possibly a vine against a stick. Fire was the way to keep safe, the way to defend themselves, their protection against the cold and, many times, the way they communicated. Fire was imposing but at the same time warm and comforting; it made it possible to eat a warm, cooked meal, light up the darkness of the night and, later on, create pottery and tools. Fire represented energy and it was important to keep it lit. 3 OPENING HOURS Monday to Saturday from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. during low season. In high season the tour may be available on Sundays, based upon the demand. 3

The sounds of the jungle will awaken your senses and keep you alert so you can enter a new world filled with adventure, where the night and fire will be your best companions. Journey deep into the darkness of the jungle and plunge into the refreshing waters of an underground river, gaze into the blazes that will stir up your inner fire, share time and space with the nocturnal creatures and let the moonlight and the stars guide your way in the shadows. There is no way to guarantee that you will be able to witness the great diversity of the wild fauna that lives in the jungle along these paths, but you can be sure that the millenary species that played a very important role in the area s ancient civilizations will be quite present and closer than you think. Jaguar The jaguar is the third largest feline in the world, after the tiger and lion, and the largest and most powerful in the Americas. Its habitat extends from Mexico to South America. The jaguar s jaws are exceptionally strong compared to other large cats, allowing them to bring down large prey like deer, tapirs, peccaries, anacondas and alligators. For the Maya, it was an animal that symbolized the setting sun as they considered that the sun turned into a jaguar by night in order to fight against the forces of the underworld to be reborn victorious at sunrise. 8

8 WILDLIFE Crocodile The American crocodile is the best-known species in our continent. It is medium sized in comparison with other species reaching 13 to 20 feet in length and even the largest specimens are boast a great speed when it comes to attacking and defending themselves. Although it might look ferocious, it is a vulnerable species. It is a solitary nocturnal species. The Maya imagined the earth as a huge crocodile where men move about unaware of where they were stepping and on whose back grew the vegetation of the forests, jungles, desserts and tundra. Deer The white tailed deer is one of the most adaptable species in the world and its presence is favorable to a large variety of ecosystems, from coniferous to deciduous forests in valleys and from an open savannah to mountain territories. Its fur during the summer is a reddish-brown and changes during the winter to a gray-brown, which helps it to blend in with the tones in its surroundings thus helping it avoid predators. According to legend, that color change was granted to it by a group of genies when a deer fell into their cave while being persecuted by a group of hunters. Deer were used by the Maya in their sacrifices to the gods due to their beauty, speed and lightness. 9 SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE ADMISSION The Admission to the Park includes: Equipment (life jacket, helmet, harness, rowing paddles, rafts, amphibious vehicle for 2) Locker for 2 (No deposit needed) Food and beverages Dressing rooms Lockers Restrooms Rest areas Customer Service Area Wheelchair access Parking lot Shop ATM Public phones First Aid Unit 9.1 Photo services During your visit to Xplor, remember to smile every time you see the photo logo.
