It s a little known destination in Himachal. Trekking through refreshing forest paths, long walks through huge meadows, sight of humongous waterfall and experiencing lakes one after the other makes it a complete trek. It is believed that Lord Shiva once took a bath in these lakes and crescent moon on Shiva s head fell into these, hence the name Chandernahan. Locals believe that there are 7 lakes in total, though only a few has been to the last one. Lying at border of Kinnaur and Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh, trek for Chandernahan lakes start from a little village named Janglik. Janglik is also the starting point for Rupin Pass and Buran Ghati treks, though Rupin Pass can also be started from Sangla in Himachal or Dhaula in Uttarakhand HIGHLIGHTS Maximum Altitude 4300 metres Number of days 6 days/5 nights Difficulty Level 6/10 Age Group 12+ Maximum trekkers per batch 20 Pickup Time (Day 1) 5:30 AM Drop Time (Day 6) 9 PM (Take buffer time of 1 hour) Pickup/Drop Point Sector 17 Bus Stand, Chandigarh BRIEF ITINERARY DAY 1: 250 KMS DRIVE FROM CHANDIGARH BUS STAND TO JANGLIK VILLAGE AND STAY THERE DAY 2: 7 HOURS MODERATE TREK FROM JANGLIK TO DAYARA THATCH DAY 3: 5 HOURS EASY TREK FROM DAYARA THATCH TO LITHAM DAY 4: 7 HOURS DIFFICULT TREK FROM LITHAM CHANDERNAHAN LAKES - LITHAM DAY 5: 6 HOURS EASY TREK FROM LITHAM SIMAR THATCH DAY 6: 2 HOURS EASY TREK FROM SIMAR THATCH JANGLIK AND 250 KMS DRIVE TO CHANDIGARH

It is the last village of Shimla district and is located on the border of Kinnaur and Shimla district. It s usually around an altitude of 11000 12000 feet) As we meander across the tree line, huge meadows greet us. Views are made perfect by towering Chanshal range of Himalayan mountains. To the south is Chandernahan Lakes, to the east is Buran Ghati whereas Rupin is towards north considering we approached Litham from east direction.
