Tourism in numbers According to UNWTO: Tourism represents 10% of the world GDP 7% of world s exports International tourist arrivals reached 1,235 million in 2016 2016 saw a growth of international arrivals of some 46 million, or 4% over 2015 Tourism has grown above average, at around 4% per year, for seven straight years 300 million more people travelled internationally for tourism between 2008 and 2016. Growth in advanced economy destinations (+5%) exceeded that of emerging economies (+2%) in 2016. 1/10 jobs comes from Tourism 30% of service exports The Americas represents 16% of the world share on tourist arrivals in 2016 According to WTTC: The direct contribution of Travel & Tourism to GDP was USD121.0bn (3.2% of total GDP) in 2016 Leisure travel spending (inbound and domestic) generated 82.3% of direct Travel & Tourism GDP in 2016 (USD186.4bn) compared with 17.7% for business travel spending (USD40.1bn). This is the sixth year in a row that Travel & Tourism has outpaced the global economy (3,3% x 2,5%), showing the sector s resilience, and the eagerness of people to continue to travel and discover new places, despite economic and political challenges across the world.
Numbers on the Latin American Market According to UNWTO International arrivals in the Americas (+4%) increased by 8 million to reach 201 million, consolidating the solid results recorded in the last two years. Growth was stronger in South America and Central America (both + 6%) while the Caribbean and North America recorded around 4% more arrivals. There was an increase of 7% in international tourist arrivals in the Caribbean 2016 In Central America, international arrivals were up by 7% to exceed 10 million for the first time 2016 The number of arrivals in emerging economies is expected to exceed those in advanced economies before 2020. In 2030, 57% of international arrivals will be in emerging economy destinations. According to WTTC Increase of 5,5% on Latin America visitor expenditure (business and leisure) when traveling to other countries In 2016, Brazil generated BRL23.2bn in visitor exports. In 2017, this is expected to grow by 3.4%, and the country is expected to attract 6,577,000 international tourist arrivals. In Latin America tourism and leisure was responsible for a growth of 8,8% in their total GDP
Braztoa numbers Braztoa has today 78 tour operators as their members Braztoa members represents 90% of all travel packages sold in Brazil (domestic and outbound) Their members transported 5,12 million passengers in 2016 18% of their market share is outbound tourism Almost 1 million passengers were transported out of Brazil in 2016 R$ 4,158 is the average spent per passenger in outbound travel, representing 11,9% increase from 2015 Braztoa members were responsible for sending: 242,000 Brazilians to European countries 242,000 Brazilians to other countries in South America 240,000 Brazilians to North America 200,000 Brazilians to Central America and Caribbean

47 th Braztoa Business Event Braztoa (the Brazilian Association of Tour Operators) and WTM Latin America signed a five year partnership, which puts the traditional and very successful Braztoa Business Event together with WTM Latin America. Braztoa currently has 90 associates, including Brazil s largest and most important travel operators. Braztoa associates account for 90% of the leisure travel packages sold in Brazil. The Braztoa Business Event is located in the centre of the event with approximately 40 Braztoa associated companies on hand to welcome the tourism professionals.
