Camper s Information Historic Leyburn Sprints 2018 Firstly, welcome to all of our campers we hope you have a fantastic weekend! Some of you are old hands at this, and some are first timers; whichever you are, we would appreciate it if you could abide by some following matters, so that we can ensure everyone has fun in a safe and clean environment. Camping Passes Each campsite MUST have a Camping Pass, this is $40 for the weekend, no matter how many nights you stay. The Scouts (and others) will be checking to ensure that you have your pass, so please display it in a prominent area (such as on the dash of your vehicle). Camping Spots The Recreational Reserve, Pit Lane and Sprints Paddock areas are getting busier every year, and we want to make sure that everyone has adequate room for their camps. This means that we really need you to only take up the area that you need we don t need Taj Mahal s! You MUST stay within your allocated camping spots. Parking of Caravans/Camper Trailers/5 th Wheelers etc Due to imposed regulations regarding fire and emergency management, all caravans/camper trailers/5 th wheelers etc must be parked so that the towing ball is facing the nearest track, trail or road and accessible to enable quick removal in the event of a fire. A minimum distance of three (3) metres of clear area must be maintained between individual caravans and/or temporary structures. All Parking Keep roadways and access ways clear at all times. Unsociable Behaviour The following will not be tolerated in the camping area and surrounds (including but not limited to) hooning, donuts, excessive noise/partying at unreasonable hours, harassing of fellow campers and anything else that we may consider unacceptable. We do have law enforcement present in the town, and they WILL visit if you step out of line, and you may be asked to leave, along with the rest of your camp. Remember that all driving throughout the camping areas is to be at a walking pace or slower. Noise Remember that others might be sleeping around you and that noise after midnight and before 6am must be kept to a minimum this includes the use of generators. Toilets and Showers We pay a significant amount of money to be able to have clean and well maintained facilities for our campers to enjoy, and this is what your $40 camping fee is helping pay for. We do ask you to do your bit and leave them as clean and tidy as you can use the bins etc. Rubbish Please use the bins provided, or take it with you there will be a number of industrial skip bins made available. Rubbish also includes those camping chairs and pop up tents that didn t last the distance. DO NOT leave them lying there for someone else to clean up take them with you. Dogs Any dogs within the camping area are to be either tied up or confined inside your van/caravan. At no times, with the exception of Assistance Dogs, are they welcome inside the racing precinct.

Fires Those that attended the 2017 Historic Leyburn Sprints would be aware of the unfortunate incident where a fire tore through a campsite which resulted in a significant loss of equipment, including tents, a camper trailer and a twin cab ute. Thankfully, there were no injuries. As a result of this, certain fire restrictions have been put into place, and must be strictly adhered to: NO open fires allowed (as in built on the open ground with no perimeter control) ALL fires must be contained within a fire ring as a minimum the Historic Leyburn Sprints are selling a limited quantity of ½ 44 gallon (205L) steel drums NO fires larger than 1m diameter permitted NO wood is to be stacked higher than the sides of the receptacle it is in. ALL fires must be a minimum three (3) metres distance from any structure, including tents and awnings IF weather conditions are undesirable, the committee and local authorities may request all fires to be extinguished this MUST be complied with IF this is the case, any use of indecent or obscene language or threatening or insulting words, or otherwise behaving in a threatening, abusive, riotous, indecent or insulting manner towards authorities will not be tolerated and you WILL be ejected from the campgrounds and the event ALL fires must be extinguished prior to attending the event precinct if they aren t, local authorities may elect to extinguish it themselves (in a VERY unceremonious manner!!) NO fires permitted without a person of 18+ years in attendance ALL fires must be properly and permanently extinguished upon departure from the campgrounds NO hot ashes to be placed into bins! We thank you for your assistance in this matter! IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM 2019, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PRE-BOOK YOUR CAMPING SPACE ON LINE. SO IF YOU LIKE WHERE YOU ARE TAKE A NOTE OF YOUR NUMBER! KEEP AN EYE OUT ON OUR WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE TO RECEIVE INFORMATION ON WHEN WE WILL BE STARTING TO TAKE BOOKINGS

The Leyburn Flood Emergency Warning Siren System Although it is highly unlikely in August, Leyburn is a town that is susceptible to flash floods. Due to this, a Flood Emergency Warning System is in place, installed by the Southern Downs Regional Council. The siren uses tones and pre-recorded messages to warn people of flooding in Leyburn within a sounding radius of up to 1,280m. What does the siren mean? If the siren sounds with a flood warning message this means that there is an imminent risk of flooding from Canal Creek, or flooding is already occurring that may directly affect low-lying areas of Leyburn. What should you do if the siren sounds? When flooding is imminent, or already occurring, the siren will sound with the alert tone (somewhat like a commercial fire alarm) followed by the following flood warning message: ATTENTION, ATTENTION, THIS IS A FLOOD WARNING ANNOUNCEMENT. GO TO HIGHER GROUND NOW. AVOID LOW LYING AREAS. I REPEAT, THIS IS A FLOOD WARNING, GO TO HIGHER GROUND NOW. If you hear this warning you should: Move to higher ground immediately Stay well away from low-lying areas Listen to the directions of emergency personnel and/or committee members **************************************************************** IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY CALL 000 A campground emergency plan is located on the back of this leaflet please ensure that you have familiarised yourself with the local area. **************************************************************** If you require assistance, but it is not an emergency, please call (07) 4695 0001.
