P a g e 3 CONFERENCE TOPICS Conference Theme: EPICS V9 The Future is Now Whether you are an early adopter, or gathering information for making the changeover in the near future, you won t want to miss this conference! We are excited that EPICS V9 should be in wide release by the time of the 2014 User Conference! The limited beta testing has given us lots of positive feedback and it has allowed us to make even more improvements and enhancements along the way. This conference will give both early and prospective adopters a great opportunity to get up to speed on all things V9. This is an excellent time for EPICS administrators to attend for a thorough overview of V9 and to receive training on the new features. As mentioned, we ll be doing an overview of the newly released EPICS V9 software. The first complete re-write from Foy Inc in fourteen years, V9 is loaded with improvements and enhancements, yet users will find an interface that is much more user friendly without losing familiarity in procedures. Whether you are an early adopter, or gathering information for making the changeover in the near future, you won t want to miss this conference! We will cover everything from Order Entry to Invoicing, examining the improvements and newest features along the way. To get a glimpse of just some of those enhanced features, be sure to see the December 2013 Newsletter if you haven t already. We really look forward to not only providing you with the essentials on V9, but also gaining your valuable feedback. A new development platform means that we have paved the way for even greater things to come. For over 35 years Foy Inc has been listening to our customers to help develop a better product. V9 puts an outstanding product in your hands that you ve helped develop, with an eye on even more future enhancements. *Be sure to check out our 2014 EPICS User Conference Website
P a g e 4 Wishlist One of the most popular EPICS User Conference sessions is the Wishlist workshop. Users develop a list of new features and changes they would like to see in EPICS. This list is then sent to all EPICS customers, who rank the proposals. The consolidated final rankings become the Foy priority list for the next year. This year s Wishlist sessions will be the first considerations for the official update to EPICS V9. A number of the 2013 wishlist items have already been incorporated in the new release of V9. Be sure to be there to represent your company and submit your wishlist items! Networking Networking has proven to be one of the greatest advantages of attending the EPICS User Conference. It offers great opportunities to network with other EPICS users. At any given conference you ll be interacting with folks who have varying levels of experience in the aluminum extrusion industry, and you can be sure someone has answers for the problems you are faced with. Conference attendees routinely comment on how they were able to attain much needed insight and information from other extruders attending. We will once again intentionally set aside time to allow users to group together by topic and discuss relevant issues. If you have any topic suggestions, feel free to email them to us at info@foyinc.com - we would love to hear your thoughts.
P a g e 5 TRAINING SESSION ADD-ON DAY A regular tradition now, we will continue to provide our popular optional training day at the end of the conference. These sessions are always well attended and the format is fitting for both users and administrators. This year the training will be most advantageous to those wanting to learn more about EPICS V9 and take that information back to their users. The optional day of training will be on Wednesday, April 16th. The class will include training on the new EPICS V9 features that will be overviewed at the conference. All of the enhancements and changes that have been added over the last year will be covered in detail.
