NHHAC News The Newsletter of the North Hills Historic Auto Club August 2018 Volume 48 Issue 8 A Message from the President Thanks to all members who helped Mike and Antoinette Quinn make the cruise at the Grace Manor Home a great success. I understand there were about 20 cars there. It s great when a member has an event such as this and that members really help out. So again, thanks to all who attended and a big thanks to Mike and Antoinette for organizing! Remember to put the Club picnic on your calendar Sunday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. Bonnie and Jan Smith are making it happen again this year. You must call them so they can order the food. Thanks Bonnie and Jan! We are also having a one day trip to Latrobe in October. We ll visit the Lincoln Highway Experience Museum and the fall foliage should be in full swing at that time of year October 18th. Call Mike Paine or me if you have any questions. Also, Mike Coco needs some antique cars at the Town of McCandless Museum on Saturday, August 4th at 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Please call Mike if you can make it or have any questions. Daryl Elliot once again gave a great presentation at the last meeting. This one was about the Tucker. Job well done, Daryl. Thanks! I also know of a couple of cars for sale. A 1963 Mercury fourdoor hard top in nice condition and a 1965 Mustang Convertible, also a nice car. If you have any interest in either, just give me a call. This coming Men s Breakfast Season we will be going to the Eat n Park in Wexford located at Route 79 & 910. It will be as always the last Friday, 8 to 9:00 a.m., September, 2018 to May, 2019. Hope you re all enjoying the summer! See you at the August 12th meeting! Your President, Steve Illsley History The North Hills Historic Auto Club was founded at Leon s Tavern on Babcock Blvd. in August of 1971, by 4 men as follows: Bill Glesner, Eddie Kuslick, Ken Kelley & Dave Moore. Purpose The general purpose of the NHHAC shall be to encourage the members to acquire, preserve, restore, exhibit and make use of antique, classic and special interest automobiles, and such other motor vehicles considered by the club fitting this purpose. Also, the club will promote the introduction of ideas and fellowship among its members. Since 1971 www.nhhaclub.com

Minutes - July 8, 2018 On July 8, 2018, President Steve Illsley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m, following the Pledge of Allegiance. SECRETARY MINUTES: Approved Motion by: Mike Coco Seconded by: Ann Cutuli TREASURERS REPORT: None 7/9/18 Phoned Jack Swaney - current cash balance is $1,893.11. WELLNESS REPORT: Joyce Fugini had a recent surgery; we wish her well and a quick recovery. OLD BUSINESS: Extremely hot the day of the Ross Township Parade on 7/1/18. George Sabina was the only tough guy member to participate. Too hot for the rest of us! Approximately 20 cars participated in the Grace Manor Nursing Home Cruise. Per Mike Quinn, Grace Manor could not thank us enough for bringing out our cars NEW BUSINESS: Discussed was the Grand Opening of the McCandless Museum on August 4, 2018. The Cruise is from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The museum will be open. The School House Museum is across the street from the Baseball Batting Cages and Chubs Restaurant on Ingomar Road. You will need to turn onto Grubbs Road, then left onto Aufman Lane to the museum. Additional discussions regarding the tentative Rt. 30 Lincoln Highway Lunch Tour for approximately the third week of October, after Hershey. Mike Paine is making a few phone calls to establish a definite date. Further details will be explained in upcoming newsletters. For our annual picnic scheduled for September 9, 2018, a motion was made by Mike Coco to have the picnic catered. Bob Otto seconded the motion. People attending the picnic need to phone Jan or Bonnie Smith at 724-282-3320. NOTE: Daryl Elliott made a wonderful presentation regarding the Tucker Automobile of the late 1940's. Through his research, if you saw the Movie "Tucker", it was; for the most part factual. There being no further business, Cathy Paine motioned to adjourn the meeting. Grace Manor cruise "Thanks to all who showed up at Grace Manor for its annual car cruise. It was a great showing for our Club. I know most of us went for the ice cream! Seriously, those folks really enjoy our cars and conversation." Michael and Antoinette Discussions with Daryl At the August meeting we will explore some cars from the 1950s. We will take a ride with Tom McCahill in a souped up 56 Chevy. Then we will go with Tom on a peddle-tothe-metal test drive in a 56 Ford with the T-Bird engine. After having some die-cast cars at the last meeting, some members offered to bring some to the August meeting. So if you have any die-cast cars from the 1950 s you d like to share, please bring them! We ll have a Mini Show! www.nhhaclub.com
