Day 1 Day 2 Arrive in Medan Arrive in Medan. Pick up from airport and driven to Jangga House. Debrief on the tour program, from your local Indonesian Host. The Journey Begins 8.30am - Pick up from Jangga House & drive to Tangkahan Village. Stop at Rubber Plantation presentation on rubber. Lunch stop at Batang Saranagan and walk around traditional markets. 2pm - Visit The English Club Dinner and debrief for the next day. Optional night spotlighting walk around the area 1hr. Jangga House - Twin share room Eco Lodge bungalows - Twin share with a member
Day 3 Day 4 Explore Elephant Exploration 7.30am - Breakfast 8am Elephant bathing exercise. Small presentation on CRU Elephants and their role at Tangkahan from a CRU Staff member and Guide. Special Feeding Session for the elephants. River tube to Buluh River Picnic Lunch along the river. 1 ½ hr Jungle Rainforest walk This will be the first introduction to the rainforest. You will learn about wild medicine plants, wildlife and some of the unique tree species. Explore hot springs; swimming along the Buluh river and Butterfly Beach. Walk back to local village. Participate in a soccer match with the group in the local community. A great way to get involved! 6.30pm Dinner in the village A traditional Karonese feast within the village. Listen to the story of Tangkahan and how they came to settle next to the National Park. What eco tourism represents now for them. 9pm - Music and entertainment. Motorbike ride back to accommodation. (5 minutes ride) or walk back as a group. Journey to Bukit Lawang 7.30am Breakfast 9am - Drive to Bukit Lawang Stop at Palm Oil Plantation presentation on palm oil Check into Eco Lodge 1pm - Lunch 2pm 2-3hr Orangutan Forest Trek. Dinner in Bukit Lawang Village Eco Lodge bungalows - Twin share with a member Eco Lodge - Twin share
Day 5 Day 6 Cultural Journey 7am - Breakfast 8am Bat Cave Exploration. Visit the beautiful bat caves in Bukit Lawang and witness the bats in their natural environment. Lunch in Bukit Lawang Free time to rest/explore markets Community Fun! 8am - Breakfast 9am - Drive to Batu Katak (1hour) 1hr - Stop at tree reforestation project and plant trees Mini presentation on the reforestation project and a great chance to give back to Mother Nature. Check into Batu Katak village bungalows available and max 4 people per bungalow. Rules of the village life and etiquette are presented. In this village it is still new to western community members. It is advised all participants follow the community rules. Lunch Wildlife Monitoring exercise Visit the community gardens and learn how to observe flora and fauna and record data! This introduction will help you experience what it is like to be a Ranger. Afternoon snack packs in the field. 5pm 6pm English class for the kids in Batu Katak Village. Get together and help the kids learn English. Participate in singing songs, drama activities and teachings. 7pm Dinner Eco Lodge - Twin share Eco Bungalow - Twin share
Day 7 Depart Rise and Shine! Today you get up and ready at sunrise and head to the local community gardens and forest to record all animal sounds and sightings. Breakfast on location. Pack bags and checkout Lunch Return to Medan airport/accommodation B, L -
