A relaxing drive along the Adriatic Coast, through the picturesque Dalmatian landscape, across the Neretva River Delta and through the town of Neum, will bring you to Dubrovnik the pearl of the Adriatic. The trip takes us along the coast through the famous summer resorts along the Makarska Riviera to the fertile Neretva River Delta. Driving towards Bosnia and Herzegovina s inland we reach Počitelj, a mysterious town with the old Ottomanera fortress. After a short break, we continue along the Neretva River valley to Mostar, the window to the Orient, and an important trade centre during the Ottoman rule. A guide will take us around the oriental part of the town, with the Old Bazaar full of lively shops and workshops. We will also visit the mosque and a typical Turkish house and walk across the legendary Ottoman Bridge from the 16th century that the city was named after. There will be time for lunch and a coffee in one of the numerous old restaurants and cafes along the river. We leave Mostar in the late afternoon. Best Seller Krka National Park lies about 10 km inland from Šibenik in this part of Dalmatia. Named after the Krka River, the Park covers the area of just over 142 square km and includes two thirds of the river itself. The top attraction of the Park are its magnificent waterfalls, including the famous waterfall Skradinski Buk, which is one of Croatia s most famous sights. This is the place where the beauty of the National Park stands out the most, through the eternal interaction of sun and water. Hvar Town, on the island of Hvar, as the oldest tourist centre in Dalmatia, is rich with historical monuments that are simply must see. Rafting is one of the most exciting ways to experience a river s currents and take in its picturesque surroundings. Our river adventure begins in the Omiš Dinara Mountain, on the shore of the Cetina River, which makes its way to the sea through a rocky canyon, full of exciting rapids, but also calmer currents. After changing clothes and receiving brief instructions, we embark on a three-hour ride down the foamy river to Radman Mills in the Omiš Hinterland, where we will leave the rafts and enjoy our free time. Today, the City of Split is the largest Dalmatian city and port. 1700 years ago, during the time of Ancient Rome, it was founded on the Marjan Peninsula surrounded by the historical towns of ancient Salona and Trogir. Join us for an exciting trip to the past times. After driving through the Dalmatian inland we arrive at the town of Klis, famous for its fortress. It is a unique example of fortification architecture, and is now almost a synonym for Croatian resistance at the time of Turkish infiltration. This stunning fortress was also used in filming of the world famous The Game of the Thrones, where it used as the City walls of Meereen. From it, an amazing view spreads out on all of the surrounding regions and all the way to the distant island Vis, a sight not to be missed! Our next destination is Sinj, a small town famous for Alka - a knights tournament held here every August since 1715 to commemorate the victory over the Turks. Riders, called Alkari, are trying to hit the alka (an iron hoop) which hangs on a rope at a height of 3.2 meters. The race begins 180 m away from the hoop (alka) and the procession includes a Duke, Alkar troops, troops of young men and escorts. Upon arriving to Sinj we ll have a short walk where we ll visit sights like the Statue of Alkar & Alka Tournament Course. We ll also visit modern and interactive Museum of Alka, where you ll see life-size recreation of the Alka procession, experience the smell of gunpowder and an expert guide will share interesting stories about the Alka. Our next destination is the uninhabited island Budikovac, located on the southeast side of the island Vis, and is known as a ideal place for a swimming break due to its shallow bay, also called the Blue Lagoon. We drive through the picturesque landscape of the Dalmatian Hinterland and Lika and about midday we arrive in the centre of the Plitvice Lakes, which are considered to be one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world. Sixteen lakes, situated in a thick forest, are connected by 92 waterfalls and cascade down the Korana River, forming the unique surroundings. Among the particular attractions are several caves and the rich diversity of flora and fauna. The Plitvice Lakes were declared a national park in 1949, and since 1979 have been under the UNESCO protection. The tour of the park lasts about two and a half hours and along with walking includes a boat trip on the Lake Kozjak.
