Fig. 1.1 Licence P1671, block 44/26b location Licence Summary Licence Number P1671 Licence Round 25 Licence Type Traditional Licence Block Number(s) 44/26b Operator/Partner % Centrica 90% / Volantis 10% Commitments/Restrictions This is a traditional licence with a start date of 12 th Feb. 2009. The agreed work programme at Schedule 1 provides that by 11 th Feb. 2011 the licensee must make a firm commitment to complete Part 2 of the work programme, or the licence will automatically expire. The work programme was a 2 year drill or drop to the Lower Ketch horizon or 4250m whichever is shallower, or elect to allow the licence to automatically cease. At this time Centrica and its partner see little prospectivity in the licence, and elect to let the licence cease. Document last updated 16-11-2010 13:08 GMT
Licence P1671, block 44/26b Relinquishment Report Centrica Energy Upstream - 2 Synopsis Page 2 2 Synopsis Licence P1671 containing block 44/26b was awarded in th 25 th round with a start date of 12 th Feb. 2009. The licence is situated within the traditional Carboniferous play-fairway, just to the north of the Schooner field. The licence was acquired under the premise of an extension of a prospect identified in Venture's block 44/27c. This prospect was not matured to a drill ready opportunity and the licence was relinquished. Licence P1671 was also seen to contain an extension of the Garnet discovery in which Centrica have an interest. Evaluation of the Garnet discovery in block 44/27a has established that whilst the structure containing this discovery extends into the P1671, the GWC indicates none, or a negligible amount is actually present. No other prospectivity has been identified. Hence Centrica and its partner wish to relinquish this licence in its entirety. 3 Exploration Activities Wells Drilled There are no wells in this licence, However full use of the information provided by the Schooner field and in particular the Garnet discovery well, 44/27-1 has been used in the evaluation. Seismic Database The basis of the seismic interpretation over the licence and environs was the PGS MC3D MegaMerge dataset, coded PP023D0002. 4 Prospectivity Analysis Reservoir The main reservoir recognised within the licence is Carboniferous fluvio-deltaic sandstones of Westphalian age. The Carboniferous strata in this area should no longer be thought of as a single play. Instead there are a variety of plays depending on the arrangement of reservoirs and seals. The most important, and mature, plays are the Murdoch and Lower Ketch sandstone plays. However, additional proven plays include the distributary channel sandstones of the upper Westphalian B and the Westphalian A. Source The source of the gas are numerous coals with the Westphalian section.

Additional intraformational seals are developed in the Boulton, Ketch, Westphalian B and older section. Trap style There are no structural traps within the licence. Fig. 4.1 and Fig. 4.2 demonstrate the structural style within the licence. Fig. 4.1 Depth to Base Permian unconformity
