Hi there! We are gearing up for a Great Summer and are looking for Enthusiastic, Fun, Caring people to complete our Staff. Camp is an around the clock job that becomes your way of life for the time you're in camp. It is a hard job with lots of ups and downs, but it is also a job that strengthens self-esteem, builds leadership skills and deepens your awareness of individuals and the natural world around you. There are many wonderful teachable moments and joys as well. One thing you need to understand about Camp Cavell, it is a kid s world and we are role models. We do not smoke, drink or use drugs while working at camp. Also tattoos and piercings must be appropriate or kept out of sight. If these things are important in your daily life, then this is not the right job for you. You also need to feel comfortable living in the out of doors. Each session we have about 50 campers ages 7-17 attend CAMP CAVELL'S Summer Camp Program. Most attend one week sessions. Campers live in cabins with 7-9 children and one counselor. Counselors guide their campers through the camp experience. The kids plan a large portion of their own programs with the help of their counselor, so flexibility is important. Each staff member specializes in one program area such as sports or arts and crafts. Each day they offer a class in their specialty to campers who sign up as individuals. Our emphasis is on creating a special environment where children have a chance to grow and try out new skills while creating special friendships with other children and adults and build values. You can BANK your pay! Since most of our time is spent in camp our staff members find that they are able to put most of their pay into savings accounts for fall. Jobs outside of camp tend to make it hard to save. We are open to all regardless of race, sex, color, handicap, creed or national origin. We encourage children from many different ethnic and social backgrounds to come together and learn more about one another. Kids can be a challenge sometimes to work with and many are facing problems at home. We work with a cross section of children all dealing with different life situations. Much of your two-week training is spent helping you sharpen your skills in group and individual dynamics, values and group cooperation. You will fit in perfectly if you care about children and put their needs first. Camp life is a challenge, but it is a great place to put your talents to work. If you are interested, please call. I will be glad to answer questions or help you find the type of camp you are looking for. Sincerely, Jill Laidlaw Executive Director 1/2017
