DESERT ROADRUNNERS NEWSLETTER VOLUME: 35 ISSUE: 5 DECEMBER 2017 From our President Page 1 Want/For Sale Ad Page 2 From our 1 st Vice President Page 2 December B-Day & Anniv. Page 3 Memory Lapse Page 2 January Rally Agenda Page 4 Maintenance Tip Page 2 January Rally Registration Page 6 From our President Sharon Wilson The weather cooperated with us at the November Rally at Wickenburg. Cool weather and sunshine made our visit to the Hassayampa River Preserve quite pleasant. Team roping was a very popular event; so much so that several went back on Saturday. The Robson Mining Camp is well worth a re-visit in the future since it is a work in progress. What a find! We were fortunate to be able to schedule a visit to it. All Desert Roadrunners are fortunate in that the wishing well at the walkway over the Hassayampa River was turned off. No one was able to drink the water. Carolyn Larson celebrated her birthday Saturday evening with carrot cake and German chocolate cake but then she had to wash dishes. Many thanks to Lanny and Carolyn Larson and Jim and Jan Moses for helping Rich and me with the rally. Mel and Amy Jones visited this rally. Mel is the Area Vice President for Region 3 of the RMMA. Linda Kohler and Tom Muller, new members, were welcomed; they discovered that they live quite close to Mel and Amy in Surprise AZ. The Headleys, Jim and Liz, attended this rally and then became our newest members of the Desert Roadrunners. They received accolades for travelling the farthest they live in Wickenburg! Welcome to all our new members. We hope to see you again at upcoming rallies. Terry Whaley will soon have the rally schedule for 2018-2019 completed. This is your last chance to give Terry your ideas for rally locations and events before its finalized. Please contact him with your suggestions. We will all be enjoying the December 16 th Christmas luncheon at the Hacienda del Lago Restaurant in Vail, AZ. If you have questions, please contact Dick Rene, the Wagon Master, for this Holiday Event. Rich and I are in Las Cruces NM on our way to San Antonio as I am writing this. We will be home for the December luncheon and Christmas after a short visit there. We do wish all of you a very blessed Christmas season. May the New Year be filled with joy and peace for you and your families. 1
From our 1 st Vice President (Rally Master) Terry Whaley We are still in need of sites for our 2018-2019 rally schedule. I will start to put together a schedule for these upcoming rallies so that we can get membership approval at our January rally. Looking forward to seeing you all at the December Luncheon. Memory Lapse Club Service Announcement I told one of our members that I had a new Bread Making Machine that I would give them, but now I can t remember who it was. Please let me know if you are still interested in it, or if there are any other club members who are interested, as I want to pass it on to someone who will use it. Rita Moore 520-744-4983 or ritamoore110@gmail.com Maintenance Tip-Rich Wilson Tire pressure monitors are a very useful item to have. However, you must maintain them right along with the other chores you have. The biggest problem is battery life. The display apparatus will tell you when the battery is low. I recently had a problem with one and, of course, had forgotten all I read when I got them. There is a good description of pressure monitors, etc. by Mark Quasius, F333630, in the September 2015 issue of Family Motor Coaching, and is available for re-read in the back issue section on the FMCA website.
