PAGE 2 V i l l a g e N e w s a n d N o t e s HOLDEN TIMES Council Meetings in September: Special Council Meeting will be held October 1, 2018. Regular Council Meeting will be held Monday, October 15, 2018. Both at the Village of Holden at 7:00pm. Please use the back door. An Interview at The Holden Lodge By Kylie Rae Nelson In the beginning of August, I went down to the Holden Lodge, and asked some of the residents who live there some questions. It was an absolute joy to get to talk to the some of the residents down at the lodge, I got to laugh with everyone I got the opportunity to talk to, and learned a few things as well. I would recommend just going down and talking or even play a card game with the residents any day. What s your favourite thing here at the Lodge? We like the bingo here. -Helen Brink I like the game Apples to Apples, and when we get to do crafts. - Vicky Pasnak Outside entrainment, when they come to entertain us, that s always fun. -Jean Grinde My favourite thing at the lodge has been the people I met here. I made good friends, and I m not from the community, so it was nice to have people from the community take me under their wing. It s the one thing I m going to be sad to leave behind. -Sandi Cooper I like being able to do my puzzles. The puzzle table, I like that the most. I appreciate that the staff is really friendly and helpful. -Kathy Rindahl The improvement in the meals, they have an extremely diverse options in their lunch. I would invite everybody to come have a meal here, just come over and visit. Just let us know beforehand so that there s enough food here. -Stanley Mutch If you could improve anything here at the Lodge or around the Lodge what would it be? More residents, we need more residents. -Jean Grinde Instead of residents coming in, they keep going out. - Helen Brink (Continued on page 3) Members of the public are welcome to attend any Council meeting. If a person or a delegation wishes to address Council on a specific issue, please contact the Village Office by 12:00 noon on Thursday, the week before the meeting with your request in writing. Include enough information to allow Council & administration to prepare for an informed discussion. Meeting dates are listed on the back cover. Village Council Minutes are posted on the website at www.village.holden.ab.ca/
VOLUME 5, ISSUE 10 PAGE 3 (Continued from page 2) We need new blood. -Stanely Mutch This is a lovely little lodge, but it s set away from the town. And the town isn t wheelchair or walker accessible, for me to get uptown would be near to impossible. And if I got there I wouldn t be able to go in anywhere. -Sandi Cooper It would be nice if we had different things, if they came here instead of always having the events on Main Street. -Kathy Rindhahl How long have you been at the Holden Lodge? Seventeen years, and I was three years in Tofield before that. I like them both the same, but my sons wanted to move me here because it s closer. -Vicky Pasnak I ve been here eight years. -Helen Brink Four whole years. -Jean Grinde Since the end of May so I m still getting used to things. -Sandi Cooper Five years. -Stanley Mutch Is there anything that has happened at the Lodge that really stuck out to you, something that really made your day? We like to go shopping, we don t go very often. -Vicky Pasnak We go about twice a year. -Helen Brink We get on the handivan, and go to Camrose at least twice a year. Last time we went, oh, was it ever hot. If it wasn t for the Lodge I don t know where I d go. - Jean Grinde They did a BBQ out on the patio and that it opened up to the town. There was a crafting table set out during Farmers Day as well. We re having a tea, and that s something to look forward to on October 13th, it will be nice. - Sandi Cooper The improvements here with the internet, satellite, and the meals. -Stanley Mutch And that s it. They are having a nice little Halloween tea on October 13th, for anybody interested and they would love to see some faces. It s simple, just go down, and play a card game or simply chat. They love the company, and I promise you d at least get one good laugh down at the Holden Lodge.
