Now being held on Tues 28 March at 7.30pm at the Complex. With the Shire wanting to drastically reduce it s number of Shire owned buildings by 1/3 as they have 100 in the Shire we need to have a full committee to show we care about the Complex and its role in our Community. Secretary and Treasurers are happy to stay on but we need President and Vice President. With Tim O Neill doing retic the Presidents role is very small with only two meetings per year and your Treasurer and Secretary doing the bulk of the work. Stand up and be counted. We have been lucky enough to be on the list for some funding towards building a family size house on the newly acquired block in Lamont Street. In a court in Tralee, deep in County Kerry, Ireland, this conversation is reported to have taken place: Lawyer: 'At the scene of the accident, Mr O'Brien, did you tell the Garda officer that you had never felt better in your life?' O'Brien the old farmer: 'That's right, sir.' Lawyer: 'Well then, Mr O'Brien, how is it that you are now claiming you were seriously injured when my client's car hit your cart?' O'Brien the farmer: 'When the Garda arrived, he went over to my horse, who had a broken leg, and shot him. Then he went over to Darcy, my dog, who was badly hurt, and shot him. When he asked me how I felt, I just thought under the circumstances, it was a wise choice of words to say I've never felt better in my life.

BOOK CLUB HELD MONDAY 13 TH MARCH 2017. THE DRY BY JANE HARPER. Jane Harper's debut novel Luke Hadler turns a gun on his wife and child, then himself. The farming community of Kiewarra is facing life and death choices daily. If one of their own broke under the strain, well When Federal Police investigator Aaron Falk returns to Kiewarra for the funerals, he is loath to confront the people who rejected him twenty years earlier. But when his investigative skills are called on, the facts of the Hadler case start to make him doubt this murder-suicide charge. And as Falk probes deeper into the killings, old wounds start bleeding into fresh ones. For Falk and his childhood friend Luke shared a secret A secret Falk thought long-buried A secret which Luke s death starts to bring to the surface... Book Club this month was Gail Vaux s choice. Nine ladies turned out and we welcomed Dani Fuller. There were two apologies. Everybody had read the book and most of us quickly. We all enjoyed the rad and could relate with the town and characters. One member liked how the author deflected the clues to keep everyone guessing. We felt Australians didn t call sheds barns and found the ending wishy washy and disappointing. The school teachers among us found it difficult to believe the school had a gun. We all agreed it was a great debut novel and rated it 8/10. Aprils meeting will be held at Tina Harding s second Monday. Gail Vaux
