Why Attend? L ocal Government officials make attending the MACo Summer Conference a priority because they gain knowledge and understanding of the most important issues facing local governments today. It is the perfect forum to share ideas and find solutions to challenges at home. Exhibitors demonstrate how to gain efficiencies, save money, and add value to public services. It is an opportunity for county officials to network with key players, creating partnerships and encouraging needed collaboration to better local government. Because missing the MACo Summer Conference means missing out! C hesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) President Will Baker will address How The Chesapeake Bay Defines Us as part of the Pride of Maryland conference theme. Since 1982, Mr. Baker has served as the CEO and President, leading the largest not forprofit conservation organization dedicated solely to preserving, protecting, and restoring the Bay. W hat pressing issues are of interest to you and your constituents? Renewable Energy? Public Information Act in the Digital Age? BRAC? Marketing Maryland? School Accountability and Measuring Success? County Financial Management? EPA Rules on TMDLs? Counties and National Health Care Reform? Stormwater Management? Lawsuit Exposure? The Statewide Comprehensive Plan? The topics list is growing. Visit www.mdcounties.org for frequent updates. T here is no better venue for learning and sharing information with fellow local government officials than during the MACo Summer Conference. While the educational sessions, briefings, and meetings are exceptional, the benefit from talking face to face with colleagues from throughout the State is immeasurable.
