EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Tyrexpo Asia 2017 and GarageXpo Asia 2017, held from 21-23 March, at the Singapore EXPO Hall 1 & 2 ended with dynamic show floor and positive feedback from exhibitors, partners, and visitors from the automotive community. Organised by SingEx Exhibitions, this three-day show saw 4,578 visitors and 248 exhibitors from 25 countries within the automotive community. This year, we introduced new event highlights such as TyreTalk/GarageTalk Seminars, Tyrexpo/ GarageXpo Technical Workshop, Commercial Vehicle Showcase, Telematics Zone, Qingdao Pavilion as well as the ITE Automotive Skills Competition, which were well received. DYNAMIC EXHIBITION SHOW FLOOR The show also served as a platform for tyre manufacturers and suppliers to connect with potential clients in the market. UK based tyre wholesaler and distributor Davanti Tyre are making their debut at the Tyrexpo Asia 2017. Peter Cross, Commercial Manager of Davanti said The Singapore show is a new event for us and we have been pleasantly surprised by the high quality of visitors to our stand and already we are confident of achieving our objective of meeting possible distribution partners in South East Asia. Some of the returning exhibitors such as Stamford Tyres, Enjoy Tyre and Global Tap recognised the importance of the show as part of company s on-going promotional campaign. TYRETALK/GARAGETALK SEMINARS The first in the TyreTalk seminars, industry experts from Melangor, Asian Trucker and Sapphire Media participated in a panel discussion on Global Trade and the Tyre Industry moderated by David Shaw, Chief Executive of the Tire Industry Research. David Wilson, Publisher from Retreading Business also shared on the best practices of how the retreading business can face up to the challenge of budget new tyres. TYREXPO/GARAGEXPO TECHNICAL WORKSHOP At the Tyrexpo/GarageXpo Technical Workshop, a series of training and demo sessions for new tyre repair and retreading technologies were featured. Apart from the latest body shop repair tools, HLT International, a Singapore company, launched CompuSpot 900 Fusion, hailed as the next generation inverter spot welder for the first time in Asia-Pacific region. Another Singapore company, Newera Equipment showcased the Japanese Fully Automatic Truck Tyre Changer, the first in Asia. Equally successful were the demonstration of highly efficient retreading machine by Akar Makina and Tech Uni-seal Ultra Repair by Tech International. 2
COMMERCIAL VEHICLES SHOWCASE AREA In partnership with Goldbell Group and Think One Yutong Bus Pte Ltd, the latest commercial vehicles, trucks and buses take the centre stage at Tyrexpo Asia 2017 for the first time. This showcase area designed for the fleet managers and transport operators allows them to source at the tradeshow for their vehicle needs. ITE AUTOMOTIVE SKILLS COMPETITION Students from Institute of Technical Education (ITE) demonstrated their automotive knowledge and problem-solving capabilities by resolving real world challenges in the ITE Automotive Skills Competition, which took place for the first time at GarageXpo Asia 2017. Dr Goh Mong Song, Principal from ITE College West shared First thing that attract us when we walked in is that there are so many international participants and big names here. I think that is very interesting to us and I think for the students, it is a real eye opener. It opens up your mind and also your eyes that there is so much excitement in the industry and so much potential as far as career is concern as far as developing the students. My expectation have been met and could be even exceeded because what I am looking for here is business contact to develop the business in SEA and right now I am going to run to another business meeting as soon as we finish this interview. The contact have been fruitful so I take that for the industry, being here is almost mandatory since this is the place where all the truly professionals gathered once every two years in order to maintain, to map and revamp their already existing business contact and to find new ones. This time there has been some new innovation at the show and that is very pleasing to see. The GarageXpo sections showcasing the people from the garage section. The Tyrexpo seminar has always been interesting and this just adds on something different to the show with the Commercial Vehicle displays, the business matching.
