Melanie Crosby CIDESCO candidate at The International School of Beauty Therapy in the UK CIDESCO International LINK 66, June 2012 Due to the exceptional standard, Cidesco head office in Zurich requested that Melanie Crosby submit a synopsis on her Cidesco thesis for it to be featured in the International Cidesco Link magazine. After our requests to our schools worldwide to submit brief summaries of their Cidesco Beauty Therapy examinations, we were overwhelmed with the response. I have had the mammoth task of reading through them and we chose to include the project written by Melanie Crosby, the candidate from The International School of Beauty Therapy in Great Britain. Selection of past students comments and progression Melanie Crosby - Cidesco, Cibtac and Itec Graduate Now a therapist in Noosa Spa, Sunshine Coast, Australia 5 Star Spa, Australia CIBTAC International Student of the Year Winner 2013 I chose The International School of Beauty Therapy over and above the other learning institutes, based upon how they demonstrated their professionalism, attention to detail and how their teaching methods encompassed the importance of client care and professional conduct. Everything required to be successful. Their exemplary history of exam results and high percentage pass marks, with many graduates being employed in quality spas and salons, was also very impressive. After an in depth meeting with Louise Leach (Principal), I enrolled for the new term and commenced my studies for CIBTAC, ITEC and CIDESCO, Beauty Specialist including Facial Electrical treatments, and Body Therapy with Body Electrical treatments. My Career Progression Within weeks of graduating, I moved to the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia. Five weeks later, in May 2012, I successfully found employment, as a Spa Therapist and Spa Attendant at Noosa Springs Golf & Spa resort, Noosa, www.noosasprings.com.au The Spa is described as a world class sanctuary and was one of five finalists in the 2011 ASPA awards for Best Destination Spa. The golf course is listed as one of the top 10 in Australia. Achievements Since Graduating I have been featured in a Fox Sport tv advert, used to advertise Noosa Springs on The Golf Show. Footage was taken of me carrying out a massage treatment. (Approx 2 min, 40 secs into the clip), as per the YouTube link:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl37kafvupa&feature=plcp In June 2012, I was invited by CIDESCO to provide a summary of my thesis for publication in the CIDESCO LINK magazine. The subject title for my thesis was Natural & Organic Skin Care. Is this a better Choice? I have now formally registered the business name "Mel's Gels Noosa", offering OPI and Axiium gel nails to clients living on the Sunshine Coast and have become a distributor for Luminesce, Jeunesse Skin Care. An antiageing range, containing a potent growth factor complex derived from natural adult stem cells. Training for Success - Page 20

Amy Taylor - Cidesco, Cibtac and Itec Graduate Now the Manageress, Chester Grosvenor Spa, Chester I decided to make a change in my career path and start a course to become a beauty therapist. Upon researching the different qualifications available, I found CIBTAC, ITEC and CIDESCO and The International School of Beauty. I was invited by Louise to come and meet her to discuss the courses available and to visit the school. I decided immediately that this was the right place for me! Training at the school covers all aspects of Beauty Therapy, from hands on treatments and consultations to theory work, to understand the practical sessions. But teaching the importance of personal and professional standards and customer care and discretion are where I feel the school stands apart from other academies; this prepares you for working as a Beauty Therapist from day one, something a lot of therapists can take years to learn. Upon qualifying as Cidesco Student of the Year, I relocated to Oxford and was employed at The 5* Macdonald Randolph Hotel, starting as a Beauty Therapist and working my way up through senior positions to Spa Manager. Following this, I was employed as the Spa Manager at The 5* Lanesborough Hotel in London and have recently moved back to the Cheshire area. I am now the Spa Manager at the 5* Chester Grosvenor Hotel. I have no doubt that the opportunities I have been given are due to the level of training I received during my time as a student. I loved my time at the school, Louise and Lizzie and the training was second to none; the qualifications I received are at the top of my priority list when recruiting for new spa therapists, as I know this high standard of working is already ingrained in them Kelly Edwards - Cidesco, Cibtac, Itec Graduate Training for Success - Page 21

Now a therapist at Tropical Touch Day Spa, Brac Reef Beach Resort, Cayman Islands After deciding to make a career change, I attended the International School of Beauty Therapy where I studied the ITEC, CIBTAC and CIDESCO diplomas. Thanks to the excellent standard of teaching and professionalism of the tutors I was able to retrain in a year and have not looked back since. After completing the courses I found immediate employment at a skin clinic where I was able to gain experience in the industry and learn advanced skincare treatments. 18 months later I moved to Spain where I worked in a Spa as a senior therapist for almost 3 years. I now live in the Cayman Islands where I run a small spa called Tropical Touch Day Spa at Brac Reef Beach Resort offering a full range of beauty and massage treatments to hotel guests. I have been here for 2 years now and every day is different, meeting new people from all over the world. My old life back in the UK now seems like a distant memory Leah Henderson - Cidesco, Cibtac and Itec Graduate Now a therapist at Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa Previous employment: Office assistant at the family business Henderson Homes and full time Mum to 2 boys. Before I had my children I was an airline stewardess. Reason for attending the course: I had always worked in the customer service industry from leaving school, and enjoyed working with people as part of a team as well as working independently. I trained as a make-up artist, worked in Harrods and as an airline stewardess before having my children. For the last 12 years I worked for the family business within the office so that I could devote time to my children. I wanted to study Beauty Therapy for a long time and finally I could devote some time to study. I looked at a few different places to study and I wanted to do complete the course in a short time but still to a high standard. It was important to me to obtain the best qualification I could. The International School of Beauty Therapy allows you to complete the course in 10 months and the team of tutors are committed to achieving a high standard. The training gave me the best skills to equip me for the commercial workplace. Job opportunity due to being at The International School of Beauty Therapy: As soon as I qualified, The International School of Beauty Therapy organised an interview at Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa.They offered me the job straight away as a spa therapist. A therapist with the Cidesco qualification stands out in the industry. Question: If I study one of the ITEC and CIBTAC courses, can I return at a later date to upgrade and continue with Cidesco? Answer: Yes. You only need to pay the difference and continue with your studies to then take the Cidesco Diploma. Question: I want to leave my current job, but need to qualify first. Will I be able to work in a salon straight on completion of my course? Answer:Yes. We encourage all students to work mobile or in salons and spas. You will be taught at a school renowned for its attention to detail. The skills we teach you are over and above those dictated to us by the different boards and will prepare you for a new and successful career. It is because of this reputation at home and abroad that the school has strong commercial links with salons, spas and cruise liner companies who regularly seek out our students for employment in their businesses. You will be a therapist at the end of your course, not just a student with a diploma. Question: What items are not included in the course fees? Answer: Exam fees, books, kit, kit case and uniform are not included. Details on exam fees and how to order your books, kits and uniform will be sent on request. Question: When are the course dates?
